The CW has debuted a poster for the upcoming second season of Black Lightning, pledging "two times the electricity."Fans have been anticipating the return of the series since its first season ended in April, and this new promise of "high voltage action" will no doubt ignite even more excitement.

Appearing last month at Comic-Con International in San Diego, showrunner and executive producer Salim Atil hinted at what to expect from Black Lightning's sophomore outing. Teasing the appearance of more metahumans in Freeland, Atil said he's looking forward to "[giving] a nod to comic books in a stronger way."

With the first few episodes titled "The Book of Consequences: The Rise of the Green Light Babies," fans can also expect more focus on the drug introduced in Season 1 that temporarily imbues its young users with superpowers. The same science behind Green Light is responsible for creating Black Lightning, a storyline that viewers have been eager to explore.

The sophomore season of Black Lightning debuts Oct. 9 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, moving into the time slot following fellow DC drama The Flash.
