Following reports that Black Lightning was set to receive a full series pick-up, the CW confirmed the news today, along with news that iZombie had received a renewal for a fourth season.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Black Lightning is expected to premiere during the mid-season because the show has only filmed its pilot episode thus far. The series, which will star Cress Williams (Hart of Dixie) as Jefferson Pierce, will follow the hero after he has already hung up his altar ego years earlier. It isn't until his daughters find themselves pulled in various bits of trouble that Pierce will return as the wanted vigilante and DC Comics legend — Black Lightning.

Series showrunner Rob Thomas recently went on record to say he felt "confident" that the show would land a renewal, and, ahead of their upfronts, the CW has given the green light to another season of the zombie drama.
