Chantal Thuy will play Grace Choi in The CW’s upcoming Black Lightning series. According to Variety, the role will be a recurring one throughout the show’s first season. Thuy is best known for her work on Madam Secretary and Pretty Little Liars.
Created by Judd Winick and Tom Raney, Grace Choi is a first appeared in Outsiders Vol. 3 #1. Grace is a bartender who is eventually recruited into a metahuman team called the Outsiders. In the show, Grace will be the love interest of Anissa Pierce (Nafessa Williams), the daughter of the show’s titular Black Lightning, and a metahuman with the power to control her own density and produce shockwaves just by stomping her foot.
Thuy’s Grace will be a comic book fan who befriends Anissa while trying to come to terms with her having metahuman abilities. The two become close friends, and Grace eventually becomes Anissa’s primary confidant on all things metahuman.
Debuting in 2018, Black Lightning is a production of Berlanti Productions developed by Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil that stars Cress Williams as Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning, China Anne McClain as Jennifer Pierce, Nafessa Williams as Anissa Pierce, Christine Adams as Lynn Pierce, James Remar as Peter Gambi, Damon Gupton as Henderson, Marvin "Krondon" Jones III as Tobias Whale and Chantal Thuy as Grace Choi.
