The brief video shows the actor in character as Black Dynamite, smoking a cigar that he then uses to light a bundle of dynamite. The teaser ends with a request to "Join us in 2018," signalling the release of Black Dynamite 2 later this year.

The first film was an American action-comedy that parodied the blaxploitation films of the 1970s, like Shaft, Foxy Brown and Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song. Directed by Scott Sanders, the original starred White, Tommy Davidson, Salli Richardson and Byron Minns.

The film's plot centers around former CIA agent Black Dynamite, who set out to avenge the death of his brother stop the sale of a new street drug. The movie was filmed in just 20 days in Super 16 format to achieve the authenticity of the low-budget features the filmmakers sought to imitate. While Black Dynamite never achieved financial success, it did prove popular and earned an 86 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

In 2011, Adult Swim released a pilot for an animated Black Dynamite television series, which eventually became a full series. Featuring the voices of White, Minns, Davidson and Whitley, the show aired for two seasons.
