Yami Sukehiro is the founder and captain of the Black Bulls Magic Knights squad. His dark magic is incredibly strong, and his ability to read people's ki, or life force energy, makes him one of the most powerful characters in Black Clover.
Everyone in his squad loves and respects Yami for allowing them to prove themselves as Magic Knights, and everyone he battles feels intimidated by the sheer aura of strength he gives off. Still, Yami has so many hilarious moments in the anime that have fans rolling on the ground laughing.
10 When He Breaks Things In The Black Bulls Base
When Yami first brings Asta to meet the rest of the Black Bulls, their headquarters is in a state of chaos. Asta seems panicked by all the ruckus, but Yami just stands and watches, smoking a cigarette. After a few minutes, the captain finally decides to stop the fighting going on.
His strategy for this is to shout that people need to stop breaking things. The only thing is, Yami slams his fist into a wall when he says this, causing it to explode, and doing more destruction than any of the others were doing. At least he got their attention!
9 When He Calls Asta Creepy
Yami tries to help Asta out by teaching the younger Magic Knight how to detect an opponent's moves by reading their ki. Ki is something similar to an instinct or a prediction of an opponent's moves, which sounds like a huge challenge to the magic-lacking Asta.
Still, like everything Yami says, he explains it nonchalantly, as though doing so would be the easiest thing in the world. Asta concentrates and succeeds on his first try, and looks over to Yami excitedly. Yami, however, doesn't look impressed. Instead, his response is, "Wow, you actually managed to do it? Talk about creepy, you weirdo."
8 When He Has A Cooking Competition With Jack
Episode 67 of the anime leaves on an intense cliff hanger, where Yami is squaring up against Jack the Ripper, the captain of the Green Mantis squad. Both of them are glowing with powerful energy, and it looks like it might be the lead up to a violent fight. The next episode emphasizes this further, being titled "A Battle To The Death?!
Yami VS Jack". Just when things are getting too tense, the truth about their feud comes out: Both captains want to sell more food at the Star Festival than the other, and will do whatever it takes to win. No matter what the situation is, Yami's intensity can always be felt to the fullest degree.
7 When He Makes Fun Of Nozel's Braid
Noelle's older brother Nozel is incredibly intimidating. The leader of the Silver Eagles, he seems cold and cruel and looks down on those who are below him in social class and magic ability. This doesn't stop Yami, however, from teasing the impressive leader.
Yami may not have any social ranking, but he never cares about unnecessary things like that. Instead, he questions Nozel on what really matters: Why does he keep his hair in such a weird style? Yami infuriates the noble by asking if he has to take time every day to braid his hair like that. Then, he keeps the joke running throughout the rest of the show just to egg Nozel on.
6 When Mereoleona Visits The Black Bulls Base
Mereoleona is the head of the newly-formed Royal Knights, and she visits the Black Bulls base to pick up Luck, Noelle, and Asta, who have all been chosen to join the group. She isn't met with the warmest welcome, though. Yami saunters into their main room, wondering what's going on.
When he sees Mereoleona, however, he raises an alarm, shouting that a wild beast has broken into their base. He tells everyone to either evacuate or play dead and warns that she'll eat anyone who looks her in the eyes. Needless to say, Mereoleona doesn't seem amused.
5 When He Adopts Three Magical Beasts
After three monsters attack and almost eat Luck and Magna in the woods, Asta worries that they're going to go after Yami next. When he gets back to Yami, however, the captain is patting the beasts, who all look like they want attention from him.
Yami shares a softer side to his personality when he tells the story of how he found these three magical beasts in the woods when they were babies after their parents had been murdered. He comforts them, making them grow attached to the usually intimidating mage. Asta cries over how touching this story is. Yami ruins the moment, though, when he says that the monsters are a pain to take care of, so he always tries to abandon them.
4 When He Leaves His Problems For His Future Self
As Yami goes head to head with the leader of The Eye Of The Midnight Sun, he realizes he's at a serious disadvantage when his opponent is about to unleash a crazy amount of power. He knows that he has no chance to win unless he can catch the other by surprise, and looks intense as he thinks about what to do.
In the next moment, though, Yami makes a decision that we can all relate to. He says that he will leave the decision up to "the me of five seconds from now!" Even people as powerful as Yami can decide to leave their problems for later. Although, most people aren't in a life or death situation that'll happen in seconds when they make this decision.
3 When The Ground Loves His Butt
In the same fight, Yami finds himself in another tight spot with no way out. He still doesn't let his confidence falter, and states that he'll surpass his limits right then, even as he is looking into the eyes of death. Luckily, other Magic Knights captains arrive right on time to save Yami.
Instead of being grateful, though, Yami grumbles about how something incredible probably would have awoken in him if they didn't show up. When they tell Yami that he has a lot of big talk for someone unable to fight anymore, he tells them, "The ground just loves me so much, it won't let my ass go."
2 When Sekke Disrupts His Golden Time
During the trials for the Royal Knights, Finral and his team are up against Sekke and his team. Finral tries out a new spell, which makes Sekke disappear. When he reappears, he is in the most dangerous place possible: The Black Bulls bathroom, interrupting a furious Yami in the middle of using the toilet.
Yami doesn't spare the Green Mantis squad member at all, and beats him up for ruining his precious "golden time". He's so pissed that he tries to use his most powerful spell against his unwanted visitor. Fortunately, someone steps in and saves Sekke from getting killed.
1 When He Trashes The Other Magic Knights Captains
To everyone's surprise, the Black Bulls climb their way from being the worst Magic Knights squad to being in second place, just below the Golden Dawn. Yami doesn't attend the ceremony when this is announced, but he sure does celebrate after finding out.
At a bar, Yami laughs in the faces of all the other Magic Knights captains, asking how they feel to lose to a group as bad as the Black Bulls. The poor bartender offers free drinks to anyone who overcomes their anger and doesn't attack Yami right there and then.
