As a shounen anime, Black Clover has everything going for it. It has a male protagonist with no parents, a sweet and caring best friend, a childhood dream that the protagonist wants to fulfill, and of course, loads and loads of fighting with the bad guys.

Despite all its qualities, Black Clover kind of flew under the radar for shounen fans. Some fans theorize it lost out to the more popular anime that aired in 2017. Others believed that since Black Clover had nothing new to offer, most people simply skipped it.

10 Soul Eater

As a Demon Scythe, Soul Eater Evans wants nothing more than to become a Death Scythe. In order to do so, he gains entry into the extremely prestigious Death Weapon Meister Academy and finds the perfect partner in Maka Albarn. The academy is known for creating the best Death Scythes out there, while Maka wants to produce the most powerful weapon in existence.

The carefree young boy soon realizes things aren’t as easy as he had assumed. Becoming a Death Scythe is tough work, but his friends at the academy make his stay there much smoother. Together, they go on many jobs together that involve slaying demons and hunting monsters, all the while balancing their studies and graduation.

9 Demon Slayer

After losing his father, Tanjiro becomes the sole earning member of his family. One day when he returns home from work, he finds his mother dead and his sister turned into a half-demon. He quickly surmises that a demon is responsible for this destruction, because of which he is consumed by hatred and rage towards its kind.

Swearing revenge, young Tanjiro sets out on the very tough path of becoming a Demon Slayer, all the while being a good brother to his younger sister, Nezuko.

8 Berserk

The young Guts has a gruesome fate ahead of him. Destined for nothing but death and bloodshed, he embarks on a dangerous journey to find the one man who's betrayed him - his friend turned enemy. He sleeps better with his blade Dragonslayer by his side, knowing he can kill whoever crosses his path

Throughout his journey, Guts kills many monsters, but he also makes a few friends, including a thief and an elf. Together, the three of them face the kind of dangers that none of them have experienced before.

7 Naruto

Before Naruto was born, his father managed to capture an extremely strong demon and seal it within his son, while sacrificing his own life. When Naruto grew up, he was shunned by his village people, who blamed him for all the bad things that had happened in the village ever since.

One day, Naruto decides to leave his home town and focus on his one and only dream – to become the Hokage of Konohagakure. This adventurous path leads him to make some extremely loyal friends along the way.

6 Bleach

In Bleach, High-schooler Ichigo Kurosaki’s life is turned upside down when his family is murdered by a corrupt spirit, known as Hollow. While protecting his family, the Soul Reaper Rukia Kuchiki becomes gravely injured. She offers her powers to Ichigo, who agrees and transforms into a Soul Reaper himself.

Now, Ichigo has the power to hunt down every Hollow that crosses his path. He also befriends other people who have been wronged by Hollows, each of them with their own powers and abilities.

5 One Piece

As a pirate, One Piece's Monkey D. Luffy is extremely unconventional, both physically and mentally. At 17 years of age, this young boy’s motivation for being a pirate is not for money or fame but to go on adventures. He also has his eyes on the treasure that the former Pirate King had confirmed exists – the One Piece.

Luffy sets out on an endless search for that mysterious treasure. He and his crew also fight evil people, unveil many mysteries and make new friends as well.

4 Hunter x Hunter (2011)

When Gon learns his father left him to become a Hunter, he becomes obsessed with becoming a Hunter himself. He wanted to know what it was about being a Hunter that made his father choose it over his own son. Gon also believes becoming a Hunter is his best shot at finding his own father and the answers to questions he has had for a long time.

HxH is a long-running shounen manga series that comprises of several arcs, with the 2011 anime being the most recent adaptation. All its arcs boast of brilliant storytelling, well-written characters, and of course, visually entertaining fights.

2 Blue Exorcist

Humans and demons co-exist in an uncomfortable balance. One day, Satan breaks that balance when he wants to capture the homeland of humans. Rin Okumura is a normal teenager by all means, except for one secret – he is actually the son of Satan.

When Satan rises and kills Rin’s adoptive father, Rin immediately swears to destroy Satan, come what may. To do so, he joins an academy that trains exorcists. Alongside his brother Yukio, Rin works hard so that he can one day become a strong enough exorcist that can defeat Satan, forever.

1 Fairy Tail

Young mage Lucy dreams of becoming a witch and joining a popular guild. Her journey leads her to Happy and Natsu Dragneel, who are in search of the latter's father. Natsu saves Lucy from an attempted kidnapping, after which she joins the duo.

Lucy then enlists with Natsu's Fairy Tail guild, where she meets some extremely powerful creatures like Erza Scarlet and Gray Fullbuster. They soon become friends and go on never-ending adventures together.
