A solo film starring Marvel's Black Cat is still being worked on at Sony Pictures.

"I like Black Cat a lot, I think she is a really great character," Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal told ScreenRant. "We had her a little bit in the Amazing [Spider-Man] movie, but she's kind of that character that we didn't really turn into the Black Cat yet. I think that's a really great character."

"We're still working on that," she continued. "I think we have plans for that."

Following the massive commercial success of Venom, Sony is apparently moving full steam ahead with its villain/antihero-centric Spider-Man spinoff films, with Morbius next on the docket. Black Cat/Felicia Hardy was originally slated to appear in a team-up movie alongside Silver Sable/Silver Sablinova titled Silver & Black.

However, Sony shelved the team-up last August, instead opting to give both characters their own solo movies, with the intention of putting Black Cat's out first. Since then, however, very little regarding the film's development has been made public.

First introduced in 1979, Black Cat is a well-established member of Spider-Man's rogues' gallery. Over the years, the character has appeared in numerous Spider-Man animated series and video games. elicia Hardy even made her live-action debut in Sony's 2014 film The Amazing Spider-Man 2, in which she was played by Felicity Jones. However, as Pascal mentioned, Felicia did not actually take up the Black Cat mantle in that film.

Still, based on the producer's comments, it appears Sony does still plan on bringing a fully-formed Black Cat to the big screen at some point down the line. More information regarding the future of Sony's live-action Spider-Man spinoffs can likely be expected as Morbius draws closer to its summer 2020 release.
