A new report alleges that Black Adam has a new post-credits scene.

According to insiders cited by The Hollywood Reporter, a recent test screening of the Dwayne Johnson-led superhero film included a different post-credits scene. While the details regarding the footage were not mentioned, the report does claim that the scene adds "a new element to Johnson’s place" in the DC Extended Universe.

Many fans believe the new post-credits sequence is due to Warner Bros.' recent merger with Discovery which has resulted in the cancellation of several high-profile films set in the DCEU. While Black Adam seemingly managed to avoid the company's axe, CEO David Zaslav has stated that there are plans in place to improve Johnson's blockbuster as well as several other upcoming movies. "We have seen The Flash, Black Adam and Shazam 2," Zaslav said. "We are very excited about them. We’ve seen them. We think they are terrific, and we think we can make them even better."

If the new post-credits scene does further establish Johnson's place in the greater DCEU, it would corroborate statements made by Black Adam producers Hiram Garcia and Beau Flynn. The filmmakers both noted that the movie will be expanding upon Warner Bros. established cinematic universe in several notable ways. "The excitement with Black Adam is that we're using him to expand the DC Universe. I think, through him as our breaking point, we get to now add in the JSA and who knows what other characters come in," Garcia stated.

Johnson has similarly said that Black Adam will be the start of something much bigger for the DCEU. "[The San Diego Comic-Con 2022 trailer] is also a reflection of our director's vision, who wanted to create something that was different; who wanted to create a movie that was disruptive," Johnson said. "But also he wanted to create a movie that would start the pendulum swing in the DC Universe."

While Black Adam will introduce the Justice Society of America to the DCEU, many fans believe that one older member of the universe will make his grand return to the big screen: Henry Cavill's Superman. While the actor was expected to make an appearance at SDCC 2022, his absence left some audience members disappointed. Despite this, Johnson stoked the rumor mill by teasing some kind of conflict between Teth Adam and Clark Kent. "I will say, as you guys know, we're all in deep in this mythology, and it's been the age-old question of who would win in a fight between Black Adam or Superman?" Johnson said. "Pound for pound, they're pretty close. I guess it probably all depends on who's playing Superman. I'll just say that. I'll leave it at that."

Black Adam crashes into theaters on 21. Oct.
