Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Seven Bucks Production worked with Warner Bros. on the upcoming Shazam! film and is slated to co-develop the long-gestating Black Adam movie, which will star Johnson as that movie's titular villain. According to Seven Bucks President Hiram Garcia, however, Black Adam will have a significantly different tone than Shazam!.

In an interview with Collider, Garcia was asked about the extent of Seven Bucks' involvement in Shazam! and how it has informed the upcoming spinoff. Garcia replied, "Seven Bucks helped develop Shazam! and while the film exists in the same universe as our upcoming Black Adam film, both projects have their own unique tone and vibe."

"We're so excited with how the movie turned out and Zachary Levi is perfect as Shazam," Garcia continued. "Not only is he an extremely talented big buy, that got even bigger for the role, but his good-natured spirit comes through wonderfully when having to portray a 14-year-old in the body of a superhero. This movie is a lot of fun!"

Arriving on April 5, director David F. Sandberg’s Shazam! stars Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Zachary Levi as Shazam, Mark Strong as Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, Djimon Hounsou as the ancient wizard Shazam, Grace Fulton as Mary Bromfield, Jack Dylan Grazer as Frederick “Freddy” Freeman, Ian Chen as Eugene Choi, Jovan Armand as Pedro Peña, Faithe Herman as Darla Dudley, Cooper Andrews as Victor Vásquez and Marta Milans as Rosa Vásquez.
