Black Adam Reveals the DC Heroes He Would Die to Protect

Slade taunts Black Adam during their fight, telling him he's surprised at how he's aligned himself with the Teen Titans. "You know as well as I do these kids are not worth our time," Slade says. "And now you would fight alongside them? Protect them?" An angered, bruised but still unbroken Black Adam responds, "I would die for them."

Black Adam's Road to Dark Crisis #7

While Black Adam has long been an enemy to Billy Batson/Shazam, the character has turned toward heroism in recent years and became a member of the Justice League. Black Adam was the sole survivor of Pariah's attack in Justice League #75, which then set the events of Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths into motion.

When Dick and Jon began forming a new team of heroes to protect the Earth in Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #1, Black Adam initially wanted nothing to do with them. He eventually decided they were all he had to work with and tried to turn them into killers; however, he became frustrated with the team and left to work with the Legion of Doom when they wouldn't follow his orders. When the Legion of Doom was attacked by Deathstroke and infected with the Great Darkness, Black Adam wound up returning to Dick and Jon's Teen Titans and joined the fight outside the Hall of Justice in Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths #5.
