Black Adam has been making some significant changes in his life lately. He has forsaken his previous role as a villain and even an antihero, seeking to become a true hero in his own right. To that end, he has begun working alongside the Justice League to move further along the path to redemption. But while the moral change is significant, there is one other symbolic change that he could make to show his commitment to being good: he could reclaim his true name. Unlike most villains, Black Adam's name was not something he chose for himself, it was a title bestowed upon him by the Wizard after they fell out. The time is right for him to resume calling himself Teth-Adam.

Teth-Adam was the champion chosen before Billy Batson became Shazam. Born in ancient Egypt, Teth-Adam was selected by the Wizard, but eventually decided to seize the throne for himself and rule the world with his vast powers. For this crime, the Wizard defeated Teth-Adam and rechristened him as Black Adam before finally banishing him to a distant star. The newly named Black Adam would spend millennia trying to return to Earth, by that point fully being consumed by his new persona.

But ever since the Infinite Frontier began he has not been referring to himself as Black Adam. It is just one silent, easy to miss part of his attempts to build a new future for himself. And yet, it is significant. By refusing to acknowledge the name, it is a subtle part of his attempts to be good.

And one other individual has recognized this. Or at the very least, he is trying to be respectful of Teth-Adam by not using a name that has so many villainous connotations behind it. Superman is the first, and so far only, member of the Justice League who wants to give Teth-Adam the chance he craves to prove his intentions. The Last Son of Krypton must have recognized Teth-Adam's efforts and decided to try to make him more comfortable by using a name that signifies that Superman no longer sees him as the villain he's clashed with in the past. If anything, the fact that someone else is addressing him as Teth-Adam again is proof that someone believes he is capable of change.

And his journey with the Justice League has only begun. So far he's helped them fight off the villain Brutus and even come to Superman's aid when he was unable to properly defend himself in Naomi's home dimension. If the Justice League recognizes this as a truly unselfish act, then this would be the perfect opportunity for the title of Black Adam to be discarded entirely in favor of Teth-Adam. After all, it isn't as if he has a secret identity, exchanging a title for his true name is a more symbolic victory of the changing times.
