The team behind Black Adam is very happy with the way DC's upcoming film feels ahead of its summer release.

In an interview with ColliderBlack Adam executive producer Hiram Garcia offered his thoughts on the quality of the movie's directors cut. "A lot of times when you see that early cut, it sets a table where you realize, 'Okay, now we understand how much work we got to do.' Granted, the movie's in a stage where there are no effects done. It's so fresh after filming," he said. "But anytime the movie is that entertaining and good in that raw of a form, it makes us very confident. So really excited with where the movie is. Jaume has done such a good job."

Garcia, who dubbed Johnson "born to play Black Adam," also hyped up the actor's interactions with his supporting cast, who play various members of the Golden Age-era Justice Society of America. As he put it, "seeing him with the rest of the JSA and all those characters and Pierce and Aldis and Quintessa and Noah, it's a pinch-me moment. It was one of the most fun movies we've ever made and also just the coolest to be making something on this scale and with a character who's going to have this much of an effect on the DC Universe."

Confirmed JSA characters for Black Adam include Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone. Sex/Life star Sarah Shahi will also play Adrianna Tomaz, Black Adam's comic wife and alter ego of the superhero Isis, a retconned version of the 1970s TV show character of the same. While each character's precise relationship to Johnson's Adam remains unknown, Garcia revealed that he is "currently working on spinoffs" for certain characters after the film drops but didn't specify who would receive those deals.

After dropping a brief Black Adam clip at 2021's DC FanDome, Johnson released a new photo of his titular character in December, teasing Adam's golden eyes underneath a black hood. This will mark his second major DC film of 2022 following the animated movie DC League Of Super-Pets, in which Johnson voices Superman's Kryptonian pet and crime-fighting ally Krypto the Superdog.

Other notable projects include the upcoming HBO Max Peacemaker series -- a spinoff of James Gunn's The Suicide Squad -- Robert Pattinson's The Batman and Ezra Miller's The Flash solo film.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, Black Adam comes out on July 29.
