A lot of the conversation around Black Adam has centered on the superheroes it will introduce, or potentially re-introduce to the DCEU. Star Noah Centineo, who is playing Atom Smasher in the film, recently stated he wants Ryan Reynolds to join the franchise as Green Lantern.

Speaking to CinePOP, Centineo said he would like for Reynolds' Hal Jordan to appear in an Atom Smasher solo film, should it ever happen. "I want Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern. He's the best," the actor said.

Reynolds appeared as Green Lantern in 2013, in the widely panned film directed by Martin Campbell. Alongside Reynolds, the film starred Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong and Angela Bassett as Carol Ferris, Hector Hammond, who played host to Parallax; Sinestro and Amanda Waller, respectively. Critics blasted the film's writing and the use of visual effects. Reynolds himself has consistently poked fun at the project over the years.

When asked similar questions about the DCEU and DC comics, Centineo has drawn from the reaches of the publisher's properties, much to the confusion of fans. In a recent interview, when asked which superhero character he'd like to recruit into the Justice Society of America, Centineo stated he would like to see Rorschach from Alan Moore's Watchmen join the team. Although the characters of Watchmen were briefly introduced into the core DC Universe canon, they are generally recognized as being a part of an entirely separate universe.

The Superhero Everyone Is Talking About

While Reynolds and Rorschach are not joining the DCEU in the near future, audiences are expecting Black Adam to reintroduce Superman to Warner Bros. Discovery's superhero franchise, once again played by actor Henry Cavill. It has been partly fueled by star Dwayne Johnson's constant hints that the Man of Steel will appear. These hints come alongside assurances that Black Adam will fight the Kryptonian in the DCEU. In fact, producer Hiram Garcia recently assured that their rivalry will not be limited to one film.

"It's never been about a one-off or just about a fight... No, it's about so much more than that. We really want to craft a long form of storytelling and show that these two characters exist in the same universe and are going to have to deal with each other often, either on the same or opposite sides," Garcia said.

Black Adam arrives in theaters on Oct. 21.
