Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam is borrowing an iconic offensive move from the Green Goliath's playbook.

The latest promo for the upcoming DC Extended Universe movie revealed that Black Adam will perform the Hulk's signature Thunderclap. The move is performed by having the hero spread his arms wide and then swiftly clapping his hands together, which generates a blast of air that has been compared to the winds of a hurricane. The Thunderclap has been executed twice by the Hulk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He first used it during his climactic battle against Abomination in 2008's The Incredible Hulk to extinguish a fire and then recently, and unintentionally, taught it to his cousin Jennifer Walters/She-Hulk in the first episode of the Disney+ limited series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Comic book fans have been waiting years for Johnson's debut as Black Adam. The actor first became attached to the DC antihero in 2007 when the character was slated to appear as the antagonist in the Shazam! movie. However, Shazam and Black Adam were later given their own solo films ahead of any potential crossover film thanks to a single phone call from Johnson, who suggested that Black Adam deserved his own origin story. While Black Adam will focus largely on introducing the titular antihero to audiences around the globe, the film has also been confirmed to set up future DCEU films focused on the members of the Justice Society.

Black Adam vs. the Justice Society

With Johnson hinting that Black Adam won't hesitate to rip someone in half if it means accomplishing the task at hand, the Justice Society will seemingly have their hands full trying to get the character to stop his rampage. Black Adam marks the first time the Justice Society has appeared in a live-action film with the DCEU version of the superhero team consisting of Aldis Hodge's Hawkman, Noah Centineo's Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell's Cyclone and Pierce Brosnan's Doctor Fate. While comic book fans have positively compared the DCEU's Justice Society to Marvel Comics' X-Men, Hodge has stated that the Justice Society will be unlike anything fans have seen onscreen before and will offer a "refreshing new look at what a superhero team is."

Now free, Black Adam is ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the world, but is challenged by the Justice Society, who tries to stop his rampage and teach him how to be a hero more than a villain. The DC film opens in theaters on Oct. 21.
