The new trailer for Black Adam has confirmed that the Justice League remains an active team in the DC Extended Universe.

In a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment during Hawkman's virtual call with A.R.G.U.S. officer Amanda Waller in the latest Black Adam trailer, the words "Justice League" appear on the call screen under the list of Waller's known affiliations. It's the first time the iconic DC superhero team has been referenced since appearing in person during the Season 1 finale of Peacemaker, which aired this past February and saw the Justice League arrive to help Peacemaker and his team stop the Butterfly invasion after the fight was already over. Jason Momoa and Ezra Miller reprised their respective roles as Aquaman and The Flash in the episode while Superman and Wonder Woman also appeared, portrayed by stand-ins.

Despite the Justice League reference, the superhero team is not expected to appear in Black Adam. Instead, the Justice Society of America will be introduced in the upcoming DCEU film, which will be composed of Aldis Hodge's Hawkman, Noah Centineo's Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell's Cyclone and Pierce Brosnan's Doctor Fate. The JSA's appearance in the new trailer was well-received by fans with many likening the team to Marvel Comics' X-Men. Despite this comparison, Hodge has stated that the Justice Society will be unlike anything fans have seen onscreen before, teasing that Black Adam offers a "refreshing new look at what a superhero team is."

Amanda Waller Ties Black Adam to the DCEU

Viola Davis will be back as Amanda Waller in Black Adam after debuting as the character in Suicide Squad. The 2016 film saw Waller form and oversee Task Force X, a team composed of supervillains who go on missions for the government in exchange for a reduced sentence. She has since reprised her role in 2021's The Suicide Squad and the Peacemaker series with a solo HBO Max series also rumored to be in the works. At this time, Amanda Waller is the only previously introduced DCEU character slated to appear in Black Adam.
