Hawkman has become the leader of the DCEU's Justice Society of America in Black Adam - The Justice Society Files: Hawkman #1.

Black Adam - The Justice Society Files: Hawkman #1 features a Hawkman-centric story, "Ghosts of the Past," from writer Cavan Scott, penciler Scot Eaton, inker Norm Rapmund, colorist Andrew Dalhouse and letterer Rob Leigh. In the issue, Hawkman/Carter Hall is stopping by a museum exhibition when he witnesses James Craddock attempting to steal a valuable piece of Eternium called "The Champion." While chasing down the foe, Craddock is inadvertently killed when trying to get away; however, he shortly returns as the Gentleman Ghost.

DC’s Justice Society of America Has a New Leader

The Gentleman Ghost traps Hawkman in a trance-like state and forces him into a museum display case. A couple of onlookers come walking in and, assuming he's just there as some sort of display, reveal Hawkman to be the leader of the Justice Society of America. "Huh," one of the viewers says to the other. "That's a name I haven't heard in a long time. I thought [the Justice Society] were finished."

After escaping confinement and dealing with the Gentleman Ghost, Hawkman realizes some larger threat is coming. Needing more hands-on-deck to deal with the threat, the issue ends with Hawkman wanting to contact Doctor Fate, another member of the Justice Society.

Created by Gardner Fox, Everett E. Hibbard and Sheldon Mayer, the Justice Society of America were first introduced in 1940's All Star-Comics #3. Hawkman and Doctor Fate were both members of the team's original heroes, as were Hourman, the Spectre, Sandman, Atom, Flash and Green Lantern. The group has had a number of different leaders over the years, including Hawkman, Flash, Green Lantern and others.
