Black Adam star Aldis Hodge shared a shirtless photo to show off his training progress as he prepares to bring Hawkman to the DC Extended Universe.

"Making progress everyday. Almost where I need to be," Hodge wrote in a caption accompanying an Instagram post. "The adjustments to eating, sleeping and training aren’t always easy. And my body is fighting pain and soreness every day, but I’m loving it! I can’t meet my full potential until I step outside of my comfort zone. So imma keep on steppin"

Hodge, who recently appeared in One Night in Miami... and The Invisible Man, was cast as Hawkman in September 2020, though reports of the character appearing in Black Adam originated the year prior.

Created by Gardner Fox and Dennis Neville, Hawkman first appeared in 1941's Flash Comics #1. The character was originally an archaeologist named Carter Hall, the reincarnation of ancient Egyptian prince Khufu, who was murdered with his consort Chay-Ara. Reunited in the modern-day, they fought crime as Hawkman and Hawkgirl. Subsequent revamps of the origin introduced Hawkman instead as a fierce warrior from the planet Thanagar.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, Black Adam stars Dwayne Johnson, Noah Centineo, Aldis Hodge, Quintessa Swindell, Pierce Brosnan, Marwan Kenzari and Sarah Shahi. The film arrives in theaters July 29, 2022.
