A clip from Black Adam revealed the first official look at the Justice Society of America.

At DC FanDome, star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson introduced new footage from Black Adam, which showed an early scene from the film. In it, a team of archeologists discover the ruins of an ancient temple and summon Black Adam himself. In addition to this scene, DC unveiled a series of quick glimpses of the Justice Society, who will be making their big-screen debut in the film.

In Black Adam, the Justice Society will come face-to-face with the titular anti-hero. Their ranks include Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate. While a leaked image previously exposed Hawkman's design, the footage also shows off the iconic chest emblems of Hawkman, Cyclone and Atom Smasher, as well as the helmet of Doctor Fate.

Speaking on his role as Doctor Fate alongside the Justice Society, Brosnan highlighted the strength of the team's ensemble. He explained, "You have Dwayne [Johnson], who's at the pinnacle of his fame and fortune and success and popularity. He is magnificent as Black Adam. We are the Justice Society and there's four of us, so we became a strong quartet of actors."

The new trailer for Black Adam was exciting for fans, who had previously been teased with concept art during DC FanDome 2020. One person who was particularly excited for the footage was Johnson's daughter Tiana, aged 3. Johnson shared a video of his daughter reacting across social media, accepting her endorsement that he was "cool."

In the comics, Black Adam experienced many different origins. The common thread among these is that he was born as Teth Adam and became an early champion of the Wizard Shazam, defending ancient Egypt from evil. However, he was sealed away for hundreds of years, before awakening in the present. Black Adam is generally considered to be more of an anti-hero than a villain, even joining the Justice Society for a number of years, though it remains to be seen how he will be portrayed in his live-action debut. Considering his storied rivalry with Billy Batson, the modern-day champion of the Wizard, a confrontation with Zachary Levi's Shazam may be inevitable.

Black Adam arrives in theaters July 29, 2022.
