Just days after it was announced that New Line had cast Chuck star Zachary Levi in the titular role for Shazam!, it's been revealed that the Rock's Black Adam is in negotiations to secure a new writer with Undateable creator, Adam Sztykiel.

The news hails from The Tracking Board's report that Sztykiel is currently in negotiations to write the anti-hero film for New Line and DC Entertainment. As of right now, no director is currently attached to the project.

The news that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Black Adam would get his own solo film originally broke back in January of this year, after it was originally planned that he'd make his debut as the central antagonist in New Line’s Shazam!. Of course, with Johnson on board long before the studio ever secured a star for the former, plans began to change and New Line opted to develop two films instead, allowing the Rock to helm his own vehicle as Black Adam, a character the actor has previously cited as "the most intriguing superhero."

While there's still no release date set for Black Adam, New Line and DC Entertainment's Shazam!, which will go into production in the new year, is slated to hit theaters in April 2019.
