Warner Bros. Discovery unveiled a series of new character posters for the upcoming DC Extended Universe movie Black Adam.

The images spotlight the film's titular antihero alongside the Justice Society of America, the superhero group that will seemingly stand against him. Black Adam (Dwayne Johnson) is surrounded by swirling lightning, an ability he will put to use as he dispenses his own brand of justice. Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan) and Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo) display their costumes while also highlighting their powers. It's currently unknown how the JSA will factor into Black Adam's overall narrative but the trailers have teased several major fights between the group and Johnson's eponymous character.

Power Born From Rage

As the latest installment of the DCEU, Johnson has stated that Black Adam has been designed as a jumping-off point for various other franchises and characters. "The goal is to really expand the universe and introduce new characters and spinoffs and be really strategic about the plan," Johnson said. The actor noted that the creative team is already looking at heroes who resonated with test audiences and are beginning to think about potential future films.

One actor who is already eager for his own spinoff movie is Centineo, who's expressed his enthusiasm to star in a solo Atom Smasher project. "If you want [spinoffs], you will have them," Centino said. "I'm down. I know we're all super down. And you know what? It's not just because the story and the characters are so fun, it's because we all had such an incredible time making this movie." At the time of writing, Warner Bros. has yet to announce any Black Adam spinoff projects.

While Black Adam is set to introduce a wealth of new characters to the DCEU, fans believe that one member of the Justice League may make his long-awaited return. Ahead of San Diego Comic-Con 2022, rumors began to swirl that Henry Cavill would appear in the film as Superman in a post-credits scene that could have major ramifications for the cinematic universe. Johnson himself has stoked the fires of speculation, continuously asking fans if they think Black Adam could defeat the Man of Steel. "I will say, as you guys know, we're all in deep in this mythology, and it's been the age-old question of who would win in a fight between Black Adam or Superman?" Johnson said. "Pound for pound, they're pretty close. I guess it probably all depends on who's playing Superman."

Black Adam arrives in theaters on Oct. 21.
