Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson shared some behind-the-scenes photos from production on Black Adam that tease a key sequence in the upcoming DC Extended Universe film.

In a post on Instagram, Johnson released a series of three photos. According to the caption, Johnson spent ten hours sitting in "the egg" while shooting a complex sequences. Due to the specific type of technology used, Johnson was only able to move his "eyes, head & shoulders" while "focusing on marks no bigger than a quarter" and performing his role. The sequences in question are from before Black Adam get his powers and is a slave in Kahndaq. Johnson went on to thank the VFX specialists responsible for the sequence.

After making a name for himself as a professional wrestled in the WWF/WWE, Johnson became a massive film star, having played a role in such franchises as the Fast & Furious. The actor's superhero debut has been a long-time coming. In 2012, Johnson confirmed rumors he was slated to play DC's Lobo. However, those plans later fell through. The actor later signed on to play Black Adam in Shazam! That movie eventually changed, and Warner Bros. green lit a solo Black Adam film starring Johnson. Producer Hiram Garcia has said the delay resulted from just how long it took to get the project to a place where it was ready to go.

In Black Adam, the titular character awakens after 5,000 years of imprisonment. The movie will see him interacting with the Justice Society of America (JSA), which consists of Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo), Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell) and Kent Nelson/Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan). Black Adam's love interest from the comics, Adrianna Tomaz/Isis (Sarah Shahi), will also appear in the DCEU film. While Black Adam has not yet released, producers are planning a multiple-film arc for the character.

Created by Otto Binder and C.C. Beck, Black Adam first appeared in 1945's The Marvel Family #1. In the comics, Black Adam was originally a slave who receives Shazam-like powers from Egyptian deities, including Horus, Amon and Shu. Originally, he served as one of the biggest enemies of Captain Marvel/Shazam. However, over the years, Black Adam has become more of an anti-hero.

Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra from a script by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, Black Adam releases July 29, 2022.
