The errant champion of the wizard Shazam makes his presence felt in the first full-length trailer for the upcoming DC Extended Universe film Black Adam.

The trailer for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's long-awaited DCEU movie gives fans a better look at the titular anti-hero as he goes head-to-head with the Justice Society of America. The footage chronicles how Black Adam first obtains his abilities, providing a look at his life before and after he was reborn as the powerful protector of Kahndaq. Viewers are also treated to new clips of Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Hawkman (Aldis Hodge) and Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo), among several other heroes.

Black Adam stars Johnson as Teth-Adam/Black Adam. The film serves as a spinoff of the 2019 DCEU film Shazam!, with Black Adam having been granted the power of the wizard Shazam before going rogue, leaving Shazam to seek out a new champion: Billy Batson. Shazam! is currently headed for a direct sequel in the form of Shazam! Fury of the Gods -- scheduled for release on Dec. 16 -- though a clash between Billy and Black Adam certainly seems inevitable.

In addition to Johnson's DC anti-hero himself, Black Adam is set to introduce the Justice Society of America to the DCEU. The film stars Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate. Additionally, Sarah Shahi portrays Adrianna Tomaz, aka Isis. It also stars Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, Bodhi Sabongui, Mo Amer and Uli Latukefu.

DC fans caught their first glimpse of Johnson as Black Adam at the DC FanDome virtual convention back in October, though the footage released during the event primarily focused on the behind-the-scenes production. More recently, DC dropped new footage from the Black Adam film itself -- including the first look a Hodge's Hawkman and Brosnan's Doctor Fate.

Black Adam producer Hiram Garcia previously described Johnson as being "born to play" the titular character, saying that "seeing him with the rest of the JSA and all those characters and Pierce and Aldis and Quintessa and Noah, it's a pinch-me moment. It was one of the most fun movies we've ever made and also just the coolest to be making something on this scale and with a character who's going to have this much of an effect on the DC Universe."

Black Adam releases in theaters on Oct. 21.
