A new take on justice is about to hit the DC Extended Universe, as teased by the official synopsis for Black Adam, which stars Dwayne Johnson as the eponymous character.

As detailed by Warner Bros.' synopsis, Black Adam is "freed from his earthly tomb" almost 5,000 years after he was "bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods." Upon his release, Black Adam gets ready to "unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world."

Prior to the release of the synopsis, the movie's director Jaume Collet-Serra talked about how it would "disrupt" the superhero genre of films. "Black Adam is a disruptor in the DC Comics world, and it has to be a disruptor in the way that we make a superhero movie," he stated. "I like to be challenged, and I wanted to create new technology, so we developed the way that [Adam] moves, the way that he flies, his costume. And then it trickled down to every other character and the movie itself. But there was always the goal – to be new and unique in the storytelling and in every aspect of it."

Additionally, its producer Hiram Garcia previously teased that Black Adam would push the boundaries of a PG-13 superhero movie. "Black Adam is edgy, right?" Garcia explained. "That's gonna be a PG-13 movie where it was very much like, say, The Dark Knight, where that pushed the edges of PG-13. I think we do that very much with Black Adam. We have a very high kill count in our movie." In regards to said kill count, Garcia has also stated that while the movie will be rated PG-13, it would not be affected.

While it will center on the character of Black Adam, the film will also introduce the Justice Society of America -- made up of Doctor Fate, Cyclone, Atom Smasher and Hawkman -- with the group set to receive a spinoff movie should their appearance in it well received. However, as for Black Adam meeting Shazam, Shazam! star Zachary Levi stated that the two may not meet until a possible third movie in the franchise.
