Producers for Warner Bros. and DC Films' Black Adam say fans can expect a sequel sooner rather than later.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Black Adam producers Beau Flynn and Hiram Garcia revealed that they are anticipating a follow-up to the DC Extended Universe movie relatively quickly. "Don't worry. This one will be fast," Flynn said. "We will open up the magic wagon, we'll have the script ready, pretty fast." Garcia, the President of Production at Seven Bucks Productions, echoed that sentiment, promising that the sequel to Black Adam is "not going to take that long." He said, "We always hope the first domino's the easy one. We'll get cooking on it fast, that's for sure."

Despite these promises from Garcia and Flynn, there have been no official announcements from Warner Bros. or DC Films regarding a Black Adam sequel, which includes any confirmation of a production start and release date. Black Adam made its worldwide premiere on Oct. 3 in Mexico City and its North American theatrical debut on Oct. 21. A spinoff of 2019's Shazam!, the film features Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as the titular Black Adam and also introduces the Justice Society of America (the JSA) to the DCEU. The JSA features former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Sarah Shahi as Isis, Noah Centenio as Atom Smasher and Aldis Hodge as Hawkman.

Expect Black Adam 2 Sooner Than Later

Created by Otto Binder and C.C. Beck, Black Adam (or Teth-Adam) first appeared in Fawcett Comics' 1945 The Marvel Family comic book before it was licensed by DC Comics in the 1970s. The film focuses on the Black Adam character, one that first appeared in the December 1945 edition of the Marvel Family comic book. In his original form, Teth-Adam lived in an ancient civilization and later used powers he was granted by the gods to avenge his son's death. He was subsequently imprisoned before awakening in modern-day society and is often depicted as an enemy of Shazam and the Shazam Family.

While further details regarding a sequel for Black Adam are currently unknown, Johnson and the film's producers, including Garcia, have repeatedly promised that the film will expand the current DCEU into corners previously unseen in other films. "The excitement with Black Adam is that we're using him to expand the DC Universe," Garcia stated in a previous interview. "I think, through him as our breaking point, we get to now add in the JSA and who knows what other characters come in."

He continued, "But when you put a character like Black Adam into the DC Universe; someone who's that strong, that unpredictable and uncontrollable - it requires more people to come around to try their best to manage him. I think using him as the point of that spear is a really nice tool for us to start expanding the universe in a fun way."

Black Adam is currently playing in theaters.
