Black Adam star Aldis Hodge revealed he is ready to reprise his role as Hawkman in DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn's upcoming reboot of the DC Universe.

Per ComicBook.com, Hodge claimed he is more than willing to portray Hawkman in the DCU, with the Black Adam star stating that he was only waiting for Gunn to call on him. "I ain't got the James Gunn yet," Hodge said. "I ain't got the James yet, but you know, we'll see. I mean, if they get back around to it, I'm ready, James."

At the time of writing, DC Studios has yet to announce plans to bring back Hodge as Hawkman in the DCU. The studio previously revealed it did not intend to reintroduce several prominent actors from previous DC film franchises to the rebooted cinematic universe. These names include Hodge's co-star Dwayne Johnson, Wonder Woman's Gal Gadot and Man of Steel's Henry Cavill. Johnson also confirmed he discussed a possible return to the franchise with Gunn and was told Black Adam will not appear in the DCU anytime soon, though the actor additionally claimed an opportunity to reintroduce the character might present itself sometime in the future.

What's Next for DC?

"James Gunn and I connected, and Black Adam will not be in their first chapter of storytelling," Johnson explained. "However, DC and Seven Bucks have agreed to continue exploring the most valuable ways Black Adam can be utilized in future DC multiverse chapters. These decisions made by James and DC leadership represent their vision of DCU through their creative lens." While he appears to be stepping away from his role as Black Adam's titular antihero, Johnson stated that he was nonetheless grateful for the chance to work on the film. The wrestler-turned-actor further expressed his appreciation for Black Adam's devoted fans, whom he would remember with "tremendous gratitude, humility and love."

As for Gunn, the director of The Suicide Squad revealed he was busy preparing the storyboard for the upcoming Superman: Legacy, which is set to be the first film of the rebooted DCU franchise. Gunn's co-CEO Peter Safran claimed Superman: Legacy will not be an origin story for the Man of Steel and will instead focus on Clark Kent's struggle to balance his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing.

Black Adam is available to stream on Max. Superman: Legacy flies into theaters on July 11, 2025.
