Black Adam's Aldis Hodge has been cast in the lead role of Alex Cross in Prime Video's upcoming thriller series Cross.

Hodge, who played Hawkman/Carter Hall in the recent DC blockbuster Black Adam, is set to star in Cross, based on James Patterson's series of novels. In addition to starring, the actor is also set to produce the show, Variety reported. Hodge will play Alex, described as "brilliant, flawed and full of contradictions. A doting father and family man, Cross is single-minded to the point of obsession when he hunts killers. He is desperate for love, but his wife's murder has left him too damaged to receive it."

Based on Patterson's crime mystery Alex Cross book series, the Prime Video series has reportedly been in the works since 2020. Ben Watkins will serve as writer, executive producer and showrunner for the series. Sam Ernst, Jim Dunn and Craig Spiebels will also join him to executive produce the show.

"James Patterson is among the best at captivating audiences with his undeniably enthralling novels and we are confident that with Ben Watkins' artistic vision, Cross will do the same for our global customers," said Vernon Sanders, head of global television at Amazon Studios. "We are proud to work with James and Ben alongside Paramount Television, Skydance, and the extremely talented Aldis Hodge, who we know will do an exceptional job of bringing Alex Cross to life."

Aldis Hodge's Varied Filmography

Recently, the actor talked about how playing Hawkman in Black Adam challenged his fear of heights. He revealed that he trained with the wirework team for months before the official filming started. "We would start the days pretty early," said Hodge. "I got down there a couple of months before we started shooting so I could train with the wirework team."

In Black Adam, the actor also helped the design team create his wings costumes, which had symbology and tribute for his mother. "There is some symbology to the wings," he said. "They have some of my mom's favorite colors in them, so it was like a nod to mom." Although the giant wings created a challenge during the filming process, the actor was "blown away" by its presentation in the film, calling it "poetry in the air."

Black Adam is currently playing in theaters.
