The success of “Supergirl” on CBS is allowing its creators to go in some pretty exciting directions. As showrunner Andrew Kreisberg recently revealed on Kevin Smith’s “Fat Man on Batman” podcast, it sounds like they’re gearing up to debut another interesting fan favorite on the show.
Heroic Hollywood points out that Kreisberg and Smith were discussing what sort of villains would be appearing in future episodes of the show. The pair geeked out on a picture that the former had shown the latter, though they shied away from revealing exactly who was shown in the image. However, Kreisberg was trying to think of what characters had already been announced when he said, “We’ve got the Toyman coming up. We got Bizarro.”
We’ve known for some time that Henry Czerny would appear on the show as Toyman, but this is the first mention that’s been made of Bizarro. What isn’t clear is whether or not Kreisberg is referring to the warped clone of Superman or the alien known as Bizarrogirl. Bizarrogirl hails from Htrae, aka Bizarro World, a reversed mirror image of the regular DC Universe Earth.
Seeing as much of the CBS series has been based on the acclaimed “Supergirl” comic run by Sterling Gates and Jamal Igle, it’s seems likely that we’ll be seeing Melissa Benoist’s Kara Danvers battle a twisted version of her own Supergirl. Listen to the episode of “Fat Man on Batman” in question below, with Kreisberg’s comments beginning around the 52:50 mark.
