With the embargo lifted on reviews for Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), critics have started providing their thoughts on the film, and things are looking good for the latest DC Extended Universe outing.

Based on early reviews, Birds of Prey currently has a score of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes. Of course, this is almost certain to fluctuate once the film arrives in theaters, but it's an impressive sign for the DCEU movie nonetheless.

Critics have lauded Margot Robbie's performance as Harley Quinn, while also praising the film's colorful design, expanded cast and frenetic action sequences. For comparison, the highest-ranked professional score for a DCEU project is 2017's Wonder Woman, with a score of 93%. Meanwhile, Robbie's last turn as Harley in 2016's Suicide Squad is the shared cinematic universe's lowest score at 27%.

The positive critical response will hopefully provide a box office boost for Birds of Prey, which is currently estimated to earn less than 2019's Shazam! during its opening weekend. CBR's own advance review of the film has called Birds of Prey "the best DC film in years."
