Harley Quinn has taken the spotlight in not only the upcoming Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) trailers but also the film's theatrical posters. What's more, she's even hijacked the movie's synopsis.
Warner Bros. has released the official synopsis for Birds of Prey, which offers new insight into Harley's role in the superhero ensemble film.
Here is Warner Bros.' official synopsis for the film:
You ever hear the one about the cop, the songbird, the psycho and the mafia princess? Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is a twisted tale told by Harley herself, as only Harley can tell it. When Gotham’s most nefariously narcissistic villain, Roman Sionis, and his zealous right-hand, Zsasz, put a target on a young girl named Cass, the city is turned upside down looking for her. Harley, Huntress, Black Canary and Renee Montoya’s paths collide, and the unlikely foursome have no choice but to team up to take Roman down.
Harley Quinn was last seen in 2016's Suicide Squad, which centered on her relationship with The Joker. However, Birds of Prey will see Harley embrace her newfound emancipation sans the Clown Prince of Crime.
Directed by Cathy Yan from a script by Christina Hodson, Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) stars Margot Robbie, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rosie Perez, Ewan McGregor, Steven Williams, Derek Wilson, Dana Lee, Francois Chau, Charlene Amoia, Chris Messina and Matthew Willig. The film is scheduled for release on Feb. 7, 2020.
