As teased yesterday, Warner Bros. has released the first official trailer for Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn).

The footage focuses heavily on Harley Quinn herself; most notably, her emancipation from The Joker. However, it also teases the dynamic of the new team, as well as the threat posed by Ewan McGregor's Black Mask.

The film centers on Quinn -- having just separated with The Joker -- joining superheroes Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya to save Cassandra Cain from Black Mask.

Principal photography on the film wrapped in April, with additional photography currently underway to add some new action sequences.

Robbie's Harley Quinn will also appear in James Gunn's soft reboot of Suicide Squad, titled The Suicide Squad. Robbie joins several other cast members from the 2016 film that will be reprising their roles, including Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang) and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller).

Directed by Cathy Yan from a script by Christina Hodson, Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) stars Margot Robbie, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rosie Perez, Ewan McGregor, Steven Williams, Derek Wilson, Dana Lee, Francois Chau, Charlene Amoia, Chris Messina and Matthew Willig. The film is scheduled for release on Feb. 7, 2020.
