UPDATE 6/20/2019 4:05 pm ET: Since publication, CBR has learned that the image below is not an official poster. Rather, it is an official title treatment that appeared on a standee at CineEurope. The rest of the article appears unaltered below.
The first poster for DC's Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) debuted at this year's Cine Europe convention in Barcelona.
The poster, which features the film's logo and premiere date, is a text-only design invoking the various weapons used by the characters hidden inside the letters, including a hammer, baseball bat and bow and arrow. It also features some graffiti-esquie aspects, including the DC logo scratched out by (presumably) Harley Quinn, and transformed into a frowny face.
Not much has been released about the plot of Birds of Prey, though we know it will introduce the characters of Renee Montoya, Casandra Cain, Huntress and Black Canary. Ewan McGregor will play the villain, Black Mask in the film. The movie will also be R-rated, a demand made by star and producer Robbie in order to fight the perception that the female-centric DC film is a "chick flick."
Directed by Cathy Yan from a script by Christina Hodson, Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) stars Margot Robbie, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Rosie Perez, Ewan McGregor, Steven Williams, Derek Wilson, Dana Lee, Francois Chau, Charlene Amoia, Chris Messina and Matthew Willig. The film is scheduled for release on Feb. 7, 2020.
