Earlier this week, news broke that Warner Bros. was releasing Birds of Prey (And Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) next week on home video -- a little over a month since the DC Extended Universe film's theatrical release.A week ahead of the home video release, the film has released a colorfully explosive, new trailer, showcasing Harley Quinn rally the eponymous ensemble after they're targeted by Black Mask.RELATED: Birds of Prey Home Release Art Doesn't Feature a New Harley Quinn Title

While no cause for the quick turnaround in the DCEU film's early home release has been offered, there is  speculation it may be due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Another factor may be Birds of Prey performing below studio expectations at the worldwide box office, earning $199.1 million on a reported production budget of $82 million, not including marketing and distribution costs.

Directed by Cathy Yan and written by Christina Hodson, Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) stars Margot Robbie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Rosie Perez, Chris Messina, Ella Jay Basco and Ewan McGregor. The film is out on digital HD on March 24.
