After Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) debuted with $30 million at the box office, it was rumored that the studio decided to adjust the film's title to Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey. However, reports later surfaced that the change was for display/search purposes only, for vendors and theaters. Now it appears as though these reports have been proven correct as the home release display art does not feature the new title.Images of the home release box art have started to circulate, featuring the main characters with the original title displayed in bold letters, confirming that the title was not officially changed. It has proven to be a topic of contention for some as the studio has not shied away from featuring Harley prominently in its marketing. It was previously thought that the combination of Harley's star power and the lacklustre opening weekend box office numbers had prompted the studio to change the film's title.RELATED: Birds of Prey: Trump Was Part of Director Cathy Yan's Sizzle Reel Pitch

Birds of Prey saw the lowest opening for a DC film since Jonah Hex in 2010. Initial projections estimated a gross of $50-55 million, where the film was only able to reach the low 30's after release. It is thought that the film, whose budget was around $85 million, needs to earn approximately $250-300 million to break even. Currently -- with an international gross of $109 million -- it seems unlikely that it will hit the break-even mark.

Directed by Cathy Yan and written by Christina Hudson, Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) stars Margot Robbie, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Rosie Perez, Chris Messina, Ella Jay Basco and Ewan McGregor. The film is now in theaters.
