'Birdman' and 'Fargo' Top Golden Globe Nominations

Birdman and Fargo led the nominations for the 72nd Golden Globe Awards, announced this morning by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Disney's Big Hero 6, inspired by the Marvel comics series, was among the nominees for Best Animated Feature.

A black comedy about washed-up actor best known for his superhero movies, Birdman earned seven nominations, including Best Motion Picture, Best Director for Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, and Best Acting for Michael Keaton, Emma Stone and Edward Norton. Boyhood and The Imitation Game trailed close behind with five nods each.

In the television categories, Fargo led the pack with five nominations, for Best TV Movie or Miniseries and for performances by Martin Freeman, Billy Bob Thornton, Allison Tolman and Colin Hanks. True Detective followed with four nominations.
