Showtime's Penny Dreadful continues to rack up a pretty impressive list of actors joining the project. Eva Green, Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton and Helen McCrory are all on board, and now, according to Deadline, so is Billie Piper.

The former Doctor Who companion and star of Showtime's Secret Diary of a Call Girl will play Brona Croft on the "psychosexual horror" series that brings many different characters from Victorian literature into the same world as a variety of original creations, like Brona, an Irish immigrant with a shady past.

The series was created by Skyfall director Sam Mendes and his co-writer John Logan. They'll executive produce the eight-episode first season, which is scheduled to film next month. It's targeted to air in 2014. Orphanage helmer Juan Antonio Bayona will direct the first two episodes.
