Bill & Ted Face the Music writer Ed Solomon just shared a photo of one of the duo's closest allies.

Veteran actor William Sadler will reprise his Bogus Journey role as the Grim Reaper in Face the Music. Sadler first played Death in the sequel Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey in 1991, and Solomon's picture offers a behind-the-scenes comparison between that film and the upcoming "threequel."

In Bogus Journey, Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Ted "Theodore" Logan are killed by robot duplicates. They soon find themselves in the afterlife, with Sadler's Grim Reaper attempting to help them move on to whatever comes next. The duo decide they must outwit Death and return home to save the world.

Solomon's Bogus Journey photo shows Sadler and Alex Winter engaged in a game of Twister, while Keanu Reeves looks on laughing. The Reaper eventually becomes a friend of the pair, though they mock him for his naivety and lack of knowledge of the mortal world.

The Face the Music picture shows Sadler in Death makeup at craft services, presumably on the set of the new film. Though nearly 30 years have passed between the films, Sadler's Death looks virtually identical to his prior performance.

Bill & Ted Face the Music was officially announced last year, though both Reeves and Winters have talked about it for many years prior. Sadler's return to the franchise was announced earlier this year, along with a long list of stars and musicians who will help the now middle-aged pair in their triumphant return. Though shooting has wrapped and the film is in post-production, it will still be another year before we see the duo and their compatriots on movie theater screens.

Directed by Dean Parisot and written by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, Bill & Ted Face The Music stars Keanu Reeves, Alex Winter, Anthony Carrigan, Kid Cudi, Brigette Lundy-Paine and Samara Weaving. The film arrives in theaters on Aug. 21, 2020.
