As the number of reported COVID-19 cases rises nationwide, movie studios and theater chains continue to push back major films from their scheduled July and August release dates.

Among the latest wave of theatrical delays is Bill & Ted Face the Music, the third installment of the popular comedy franchise starring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter. Scheduled for Aug. 14, the sequel is now slated for release on Aug. 28 to give the global health crisis more time to stabilize.

Originally intended for an August 21 release, Bill & Ted had its opening moved forward a full week as American businesses began to reopen in the face of the ongoing pandemic. As the number of cases began to rebound, the studio has pushed back the opening by two weeks.

Face the Music revisits the eponymous rocker duo, now middle-aged and the fathers of teenage daughters. Realizing they failed to live up to their destiny to write a song to lead humanity together into a utopian future, the two lifelong friends travel through space and time for musical inspiration.
