Bill Murray has built a reputation over the years as the most mysterious comedian in Hollywood -- particularly in how he chooses his roles. But his latest unexpected move will be one that has fans cheering.

The Hollywood Reporter has a story up officially confirming that the actor will appear in Paul Feig's incoming Ghostbusters reboot. Murray was for many years the biggest question mark in casting for a potential Ghostbusters III with the original cast, so his inclusion here is extra bewildering.

What's more, with the plot of the new movie believed to be about a group of women becoming Ghostbusters for the first time rather than a strict continuation, what exact role Murray will play remains up in the air. However, he will be joining fellow original star Dan Aykroyd in the production.

Starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones, Ghostbusters opens July 22, 2016.
