Big Mouth splashed onto Netflix in 2017, and its fifth season was recently released on the streaming app. The show is a hilarious and risque take on puberty and sex, which is sometimes looked down on but as Rick would say, "What are you gonna do, baby?" The show may be animated but it's not for children. However, there are parts of the show that are actually informative and accurate.

In a show filled with outlandish characters, including body parts and inanimate objects that talk, Big Mouth has a boatload of ridiculously comedic characters. Whether it's one of the human kid characters or one of the many different monsters, these characters seem to bring just a few more laughs in comparison to others.

One of the many characters voiced by co-creator and star Nick Kroll, Lola Skumpy is an outspoken, obnoxious, and loud-mouthed student at Bridgeton Middle School. Lola has been romantically involved with both Andrew Glouberman and Jay Bilzerian, with the latter even proclaiming his love for her in Season 4. Lola started out as just a friend to the popular girl, Devon, but has become such a huge part of the ridiculousness that is Big MouthWhile she is loud and very annoying, Lola remains one of Big Mouth's most absurd characters.

9 Andrew Glouberman Is The Awkward But Hilarious Main Character On Big Mouth

There are a whole bunch of characters on Big Mouth, but there is no doubting that the main character is Andrew Glouberman, voiced by John Mulaney. Compared to his friend Nick, Andrew is much bigger and is developing into a young man much quicker, much to Nick's dismay. While the two best friends constantly fight, they always seem to be there for each other when it matters most. Andrew is constantly making big mistakes and is very awkward, plus he's always being tempted by his outrageous Hormone Monster, Maury.

8 Marty Glouberman Is Andrew's Angry But Honest & Cheap Father

Marty Glouberman is the loud and overbearing father who seems to blame his son, Andrew, for everything wrong in the world. He seems to skimp on money and is always yelling at Andrew for being a pervert. He's also obsessed with the New York Knicks and has a loving, yet strange, relationship with his wife. The couple is constantly worrying that Andrew is some kind of deviant and Marty always thinks everything is Andrew's fault, including blaming his son for Charlie Sheen leaving Two and A Half Men.

7 The Birch's Attic Is Haunted By Music Legend Duke Ellington & His Iconic Ghost Friends

Perhaps the most random character on Big Mouth is the ghost of the legendary jazz musician Duke Ellington. Voiced by Jordan Peele, this animated version of Duke Ellington is just as perverted as every other character on the show. There's a flashback episode in Season 3 that shows Duke's life when he was a young boy and how he became a musician, it even reveals that Maury was Duke's Hormone Monster as well.

Nick always goes to the attic to talk with and receive life advice from Duke, who's constantly having ghost parties with other deceased celebrities, including Freddie Mercury and Whitney Houston.

The second most important character on Big Mouth is Andrew's best friend, Nick, and while Nick is funny, it's his overbearing emotionally charged father, Elliot, who steals a lot of scenes. Voiced by the talented Fred Armisen, Dr. Elliot Birch and his wife, Diane, are very open with their kids and are not afraid to talk about sex and life. Elliot is such a wacky character that in the "Guy Town" episode, after being insulted by Nick, he acts like a cat the whole time.

5 Rick Is The Not So Bright But Hysterically Deformed Hormone Monster

Rick the Hormone Monster is one of the funniest and most outlandish characters on the show, always saying things that are completely wrong or giving awful advice. However, while Rick doesn't really know what's going on, he has a relaxed attitude and is constantly telling Nick "you do you, baby."

Rick may not be the sharpest knife in the draw but he does have a heart of gold and only wants what's best for the people in his life. Additionally, in a Season 1 episode of Big Mouth, it's revealed that Rick is also the Hormone Monster for the man baby, Coach Steve.

Speaking of outlandish and crude characters with hearts of gold, Jay Bilzerian may be the most absurd human character on Big Mouth. Voiced by Jason Mantzoukas, Jay comes from a troubled home and can be quite crude at times, even making love to his talking pillows and acting wildly inappropriate at school. Jay escapes the troubles of his life through magic, which has led to him spending far too much time with a group of adult magicians at a Panera. Jay is responsible for some of the greatest bits in Big Mouth, including naming his dog Pitbull featuring Ludicrous, and opening a dirty mud pool with Lola called the Soak Palace.

3 Coach Steve Steve Is The Inexperienced Gym Teacher & All-Around Goofball

Coach Steve Steve is also not the brightest bulb in the socket and is constantly confused about what's going on around him. However, all the students seem to like him, including Jay, whose mom makes "thick in the warm" with the aloof coach. Coach Steve lives on a Diaper Barge and has a girlfriend made out of Walgreens Valentine's Day products named Reeses's Werther's-spoons. To say the least, Coach Steve probably shouldn't be put in charge of children, considering he seems to be barely able to dress himself.

2 Connie Is The Bubble Bath Loving Hormone Monstress

While a show like Big Mouth may be aimed at men, there are just as many episodes based around girls and their own puberty. Jessi Glaser serves as the female lead character and goes through just as many awkward moments as the boys do. Thankfully, Jessi has an amazing puberty guide in Connie, the bubble-bath-loving Hormone Monstress who is as direct as any of the male characters on the show. Connie also has an on-again-off-again relationship with Maury and a twin sister named Bonnie, who enjoys juicy jacuzzis as compared to Connie's bubble baths.

1 Maury Is The Straight Shooting Comedic Hormone Monster

The main man when it comes to puberty, sex, and male genitalia, Maury the Hormone Monster shines as the funniest and most outspoken character on Big Mouth. Maurice "Maury" Beverley, who is another character voiced by Nick Kroll,  serves as both Andrew and Matthew's Hormone Monster, also it's revealed in Season 3 that Maury was actually Duke Ellington's Hormone Monster back in the day. Maury is constantly pushing sexual innuendos on Andrew and Matthew, who usually think he is overzealous but eventually give in to Maury's hilarious temptations.
