Sorry - That Big Lebowski Teaser Wasn't For a New Movie

The Dude abides -- and now he hawks beer, too. Jeff Bridges' new Big Lebowski project, which he teased last week, isn't a movie but an ad campaign for Stella Artois.

The commercial, posted to YouTube on Monday, finds Sarah Jessica Parker reprising her Sex and the City role of Carrie Bradshaw, while Bridges steps into the Dude’s sweater and shades one more time. Both characters forgo their usual drinks -- a cosmopolitan and a White Russian, respectively -- in favor of a Stella Artois, leading to much consternation and calamity among the waitstaff serving them.

The previous teaser included the date February 3, 2019 -- which is, perhaps not coincidentally, the day of the Super Bowl. The new commercial, meanwhile, includes the hashtag #pouritforward. The write-up beneath the video on YouTube references a Stella Artois initiative to “provide access to clean water for someone in need” for every beer poured.

Presumably, then, the ad is part of a larger campaign -- possibly with other famous characters changing up their drink orders -- that will air during the big game.

The Coen Brothers' cult classic The Big Lebowski was originally released in theaters in March 1998. Bridges starred alongside John Goodman, Julianne Moore, Steve Buscemi, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Tara Reid and more.
