The much anticipated 1 hour long Big Bang Theory season finale feels like it's just around the corner, and yet we have so many unanswered questions. So far this season, a lot of the episodes haven't really given us that setup yet that answers all of those questions, but we have until May 16th to hang on to hope.
Sheldon, despite being one of the most annoying characters on the show, is one of the main gang. So, naturally, we are wondering about some of the events that will happen in his life before the cast says goodbye to their roles. We've thought about some of the best and most interesting things that could happen to him. We would really love it if even a few of the things on this list came true. While we don't think everything we want is going to happen, it's nice to think of the idea that a bittersweet ending is in store for all of our favorite TV nerds.
Warning: If you haven't seen much of this season yet, don't read ahead unless you're willing to see some spoilers.
10 10. SOMEONE GIVE THE MAN HIS NOBEL PRIZE, PLEASE.
Since the beginning of the show, when Sheldon was more robot than a human being, all he's talked about is that coveted Nobel Prize. The last two seasons have shown him getting really close to that point. Now, with Sheldon and Amy's theories being proven by the Chicago scientists, it seems like it could very well be a reality before the show ends its 12 season run.
That would be the real cherry on top in Sheldon's world and would be the perfect ending for his character. Whether you love him or hate him (which many people do), you still have to give him credit for the fact that he is so close to his dream he can basically smell it. Give him the thing, already.
9 9. HE SHOULD DO AWAY WITH THE RELATIONSHIP AGREEMENT.
Sure, Sheldon's really toned it down in the last few seasons thanks to his relationship with Amy. But wouldn't it be bittersweet to see him completely do away with the contracts, relationship agreements, and other paperwork and just be a romantic husband? I mean, that's how we end up with number 7 on this list. But that would really showcase the idea that he's come full circle.
He may have even turned into a normal human being capable of having feelings and social mannerisms like regular mortals. It's understandable that some people wouldn't want this. Many critics think he's already lost touch with the original character he had. However, love does make people do crazy things. And people grow.
8 8. GET HIM TO THE LARGE HADRON COLLIDER, TOO.
In season 3, "The Large Hadron Collision," Leonard gets an invitation to visit the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland. Sheldon is thrilled, thinking that Leonard is going to take him, and reveals that he has wanted to visit the LHC since he was 9 years old. He is very upset when he finds out that Leonard is taking Penny instead.
Then, he spends the whole episode trying to change his mind. When Penny becomes sick, Sheldon is ecstatic that he can go. However, he too gets sick after realizing he hugged Penny and got her germs. A visit to the LHC clearly means so much to him, maybe the show should take him there just once before it ends.
7 7. SHELDON AND AMY SHOULD HAVE A BABY (OR AT LEAST ANNOUNCE A PREGNANCY).
It's definitely been hinted that Amy may already be pregnant, so we'd love to see this become a reality. In the last episode, "The Conference Valuation," Amy attempts some unusual tactics to warm Sheldon up to the idea of having kids. They've also dropped a major spoiler that he does end up with kids in the future on Young Sheldon this season.
While they never confirmed it was with Amy, we can only guess that this may be acknowledged at some point soon. The producers clearly knew what they were doing when they included that line, so we'll have to wait and see what's going to happen.
6 6. HE AND AMY SHOULD BUY THEIR OWN HOUSE.
All of those characters have rented those apartments for so long, despite being successful scientists. It's been shown on many occasions that Sheldon doesn't really spend all his money and has a huge stash saved up. So, there's no reason why they all can't have a home like Howard and Bernadette do.
Even though Howard is technically still living in his mother's house. It's about time that everyone on the show grows up, as they are all approaching their late 30s and are married and settling down (except for poor Raj). So, it would just make sense for the show to give him a send-off to true adult life.
5 5. HIS MOTHER SHOULD GET A HAPPY ENDING, TOO.
Wouldn't everyone, including Sheldon, love to see Mary Cooper finally find someone nice to marry and be happy with? Maybe it's Leonard's dad. Maybe it's a man from church. Who knows, but Sheldon is such a momma's boy it would definitely affect him to have her not be so lonely anymore.
In the season 7 episode, "The Mommy Observation," Sheldon decides to surprise his mom with a visit. However, he soon sees that she is with a gentleman caller. He is shocked and horrified to learn that she is having relations with someone, but by the end of the episode, he realizes that she is genuinely lonely and needs some companionship, too. Let's give her that for good.
4 4. HE SHOULD ADMIT THAT LESLIE WINKLE IS SMART, TOO.
Sheldon's ongoing feud with Leslie Winkle has gotten in the way of a lot of things. But it would be a bittersweet thing to see him accepting her as an intellectual equal. It doesn't mean that they need to kiss and make up, but it would show his growth as a person. She is constantly trying to prove herself to them.
Though she disagrees on their theories, that's the whole point of being theoretical physicists in the first place. It would also be kind of awesome to see her put him in his place one final time before we never see either of them again. That would be one real final "Bazinga!"
3 3. WE SHOULD SEE A BIG FINALE OF FUN WITH FLAGS.
Since the Big Bang Theory is ending for good, it's only fair that we should get to see a little mini-finale of Fun With Flags, Sheldon (and now Amy's) signature online show. They could have a series of exciting guest stars come to the show, or discuss something really surprising. It could also result in a few call-ins from the audience.
This could show that they actually do have people who watch, aside from their friends that admittedly use the show to fall asleep at night. Regardless, we can't just leave the fate of Fun With Flags hanging up in the air. It would just fall into oblivion like many of the other long-running themes of the show.
2 2. THERE SHOULD BE ONE LAST RENDITION OF "SOFT KITTY," FOR OLD TIMES' SAKE.
Everyone and their mother knows Soft Kitty, thanks to Sheldon's ongoing persistence of hearing the song every time he's sick when he proceeds to turn into a giant baby. The song comes up every now and then. But it would be a great send-off to hear it just one last time before the show stops producing more episodes.
Sure, we're always going to have re-runs, but it would be great to have one last hurrah with the song. Maybe there could even be a twist, like someone else singing it that we'd never expect. Kripke? That'd be a real shocker.
1 1. MEEMAW SHOULD COME BACK ONE MORE TIME.
We hear about Meemaw, Sheldon's grandma, a lot. But we've only really met her once in "The Meemaw Materialization" in season 9. She didn't even show up to Sheldon's wedding, even though she changed her tune about accepting Amy. Where has she been?
For someone so important in Sheldon's life, we should get to meet her another time in a funny way before the show leaves us forever. Maybe she'll turn up right at the last minute with the announcement of her great-grandchildren? We may never know.
