You can find the most information for the characters of The Big Bang Theory where Leonard, Penny, and Sheldon are concerned since these three are supposed to be the “main” main characters on the show. But that doesn’t mean they were the most popular, as the rest of the cast had fan followings of their own.

If you happen to be a new fan of The Big Bang Theory or are now feeling nostalgic since the show has been over for a month, then let’s take a trip down Howard Wolowitz lane and see the answers to questions you’ve either had or will have after watching the show. Here are 10 such questions that have proven to be the most common.

10 When Was He Born?

The gang’s birthdays have been shown sporadically over the years, but Howard’s was never made a big deal out of. This made it difficult to gauge when he was born, and there’s no clear date of birth.

What we can assess, though, is that Howard was born between 1981 and 1982. This was proven in a Season 2 episode, which was set in 2008, when he called himself 26 years old. It’s not clear which month he might have been born in, but he’s said to be close in age to Raj, who was at least a year younger than Sheldon and Leonard – both of whom were born in 1980.

9 How Many Girlfriends Has He Had?

Out of twelve seasons of watching the character onscreen, we never saw him have a steady girlfriend other than the one who became his wife. Back when he was a creep, Howard was shown to only have been in a “relationship” with Leslie Winkle.

During this time, Howard revealed Leslie was the fifth girl he’d hooked up with… for free. Another flame was Penny’s ditzy friend from her hometown, but all in all, we can assess that Howard’s only real girlfriend was Bernadette. If intimate relationships are considered, we only saw him score with Leslie, Penny’s friend, and another one we’ll be mentioning below.

8 What Is His Most Embarrassing Secret?

When Howard, Leonard, and Raj unknowingly consumed questionable goodies on a camping trip, they each gave out secrets or confessions they had. Howard’s was the weirdest, as he admitted to losing his virginity to his second cousin. This has so far been Howard’s greatest secret on the show, proven when his cousin resurfaced in Season 8.

Here, Howard was greatly embarrassed the whole episode due to his cousin being Stuart’s date to the gang’s makeshift prom. We can understand why it was such a guarded secret, too, since Leonard and Raj were vicious in how they mocked Howard for getting together with his cousin.

7 Who Is His Nemesis?

Despite them being part of the same group, Howard and Sheldon have always been at odds. This stems from Sheldon having no respect for Howard’s profession, which makes him insult Howard at frequent intervals. Howard, too, has looked to hit back, and we’ve seen him antagonize Sheldon.

The most recent time this happened was in the last season, where Howard dressed up as Sheldon for Halloween as part of a cruel joke. Meanwhile, Sheldon has even unknowingly insulted Howard, such as when he called him “a treasured acquaintance” rather than a friend, and you could see Howard’s face visibly fall with sorrow.

6 Who Was His Preferred Choice Over Bernadette?

New fans might not know that Howard used to pretty creepy back in the day, and this would extend to when he was alone too. In a Season 3 episode, we saw Howard’s preferred choice in a girlfriend in Katee Sackhoff. He was so convinced he’d be with Katee one day that he blew Bernadette off just so he could fantasize about Katee in the bathtub.

Even eerily, it appears as if Bernadette still wasn’t Howard’s second choice, as we saw George Takei appear alongside Katee Sackhoff in Howard’s next fantasy, hinting at something else. In the end, though, Howard dropped both George and Katee and went with a real-life woman.

5 Does He Have Siblings?

Howard’s family life was only ever seen in his mother, after whose death we only got one episode where Howard’s family was shown. This was such a random and one-off appearance, that you’d be forgiven if you forgot about it or missed the episode itself.

Regardless, Howard was shown to have had a brother. For all his life, Howard had grown up as a single child with a single mother, so the existence of a previously unknown brother was quite the surprise. Of course, this sibling was a younger half-brother from his father's side, which explained why they didn’t grow up together.

4 How Tall Is He?

Except for Sheldon, all the guys were rather short in height; Raj was a little around the average, but the other two were clearly short guys in general. However, even against Leonard, Howard was shorter, as Leonard would make sure to mention this little fact.

Howard acknowledged that Leonard was just a quarter inch taller than him, making him the shortest member of the group until Bernadette joined. As Leonard’s height is know to be 165 cms, or 5 feet and 4 inches, it makes Howard around 5 feet 3 inches, or 164 cms. It doesn’t matter if the height difference with Leonard is negligible, though, as Leonard still rubs it in Howard’s face.

3 What Is His Occupation?

For the first few seasons it was rather confusing to gauge exactly what Howard did as an engineer. He was said to have worked on a few projects that seemed to Earth-based, before it became gradually clearer that Howard was an aerospace engineer.

His main accomplishment was making a “space toilet” that was implemented on the Space Station. Howard was also added to the team for the Mars Rover project, only to land it in a ditch on Mars. His most notable feat has been to go to space itself and be branded as an astronaut for life; although he's still not a doctorate holder, as Sheldon might remind you.

2 Does He Love His Mother?

For the first eight seasons on the show, it appeared as if Howard greatly despised his mother. Should you be reading this point before you reach Howard’s mother’s death, you’ll be believing that Howard could never stand his mother. However, after her passing, Howard openly admitted just how much he loved his mother.

Thereafter, Howard always spoke only of how well his mother had raised him and she was never shown in a negative light. Still, it’s hard to forget how she used to get on his nerves when she was alive, and she and Howard would have famous shouting matches with one another. At the end of everything, though, Howard loved his mother more than anyone else.

1 Who Is His Father?

Unfortunately, this is a question that was never answered on The Big Bang Theory. What we can tell you, however, is that Howard’s father probably did try to get in touch with him. In a Season 6 episode, Howard apparently got a letter from his father, only to refuse to read it.

His friends then conducted an intervention of sorts, where they read separate letters, of which one was implied to be the real contents of the letter from his father. All in all, the mystery behind his father’s identity was never solved, but you can find solace in the fact that Howard did get over being abandoned and was very happy in becoming a father himself.
