As the streaming wars continue to intensify, WarnerMedia's upcoming platform HBO Max has secured exclusive streaming rights for two of the biggest sitcoms in the past 20 years.
Having previously signed Friends for the premium streaming service, WarnerMedia has finalized acquiring the streaming rights to The Big Bang Theory for all 12 seasons of the recently concluded CBS sitcom -- the first time the entire series has been available to stream together.
Specifics of the streaming deal are still under wraps but reportedly carried a price tag significantly larger than the $425 million WarnerMedia paid for the exclusive streaming rights to Friends. All 279 episodes of The Big Bang Theory will be available on HBO Max when it launches spring 2020 while WarnerMedia's cable network TBS has extended broadcast rights to the sitcom through 2028.
Premiering on CBS in September 2007, The Big Bang Theory followed four scientist friends that befriended a young woman living in their apartment building as they balanced their careers and love lives with plenty of geeky references and pursuits. The series concluded with its 12th season in May.
