The Big Bang Theory co-star Mayim Bialik said there were a lot of reasons the show came to an end in 2019, and not all of them have been revealed.

"The way that I described the show ending was there are a lot of factors that the public doesn't get to know about, about what goes into the decisions behind why a show doesn't continue," Bialik said in an interview with Us Magazine. "I think, as someone who was grateful to work alongside [Jim Parsons] and eager to see the rest of what all of our lives held for us, I think there was a general feeling like it was time for us to move into something different."

In 2019, Big Bang was in its 12th season and the cast was in negotiations for an additional two. However, Parsons, who starred as prickly Caltech physicist Sheldon Cooper, opted not to renew his contract. However, as Bialik explained, Parsons' decision was not the sole reason producers chose not to carry on.

Bialik currently stars on Call Me Kat on Fox. She joined The Big Bang Theory in Season 3 as Amy Farrah Fowler, who met Sheldon Cooper on a blind date arranged as a prank by Cooper's buddies Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) and Raj Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar). Fowler's relationship with Cooper grew into a romance. He proposed in the Season 11 premiere and they wed in that season's finale.

The Big Bang Theory aired on CBS from 2007-2019 and starred Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik. All 12 seasons of the show are currently streaming on HBO Max.
