WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Amazing Spider-Man #90, available now from Marvel.

Ever since returning to the spotlight, Beyond Corporation has become more and more integral to the goings-on of Spider-Man's life, no matter which version of the hero that happens to be. While Ben Reilly has been representing Beyond as their very own Spider-Man, his ominous benefactors have been hard at work manufacturing brand-new villains for him to face. Not only that, but it seems Beyond has been behind nearly everything that has happened to Ben, Peter, and even Miles Morales for months at this point, and they may even be the ones to unleash the next generation of Marvel villains.

Amazing Spider-Man #90 (by Patrick Gleason, Mark Bagley, Andre Hennessy, John Dell, Andy Owens, Wayne Faucher, Victor Olazaba, Bryan Valenza, Dijjo Lima, Andrew Crossley, and VC's Joe Caramagna) finds Ben Reilly and Janine Godbe swinging high above the city after narrowly escaping the Goblin Queen's clutches. As surprised as Janine is that Ben chose to leave Mary Jane behind to fend for herself, his only concern is taking down Beyond Corporation before they can ruin the couples' lives all over again.

Unfortunately, it isn't just Beyond that they need to worry about, as Janine reveals to Ben that his malevolent corporate sponsors have been behind nearly every villainous run-in he and Peter Parker have had for months. Not only that, Beyond has its own roster of villains just waiting to be unleashed, and that may happen regardless of who wins the current battle.

Janine explains that Beyond Corporation has set up a facility on Staten Island dedicated solely to expanding its supervillain program. This is presumably where they developed the Goblin Queen herself, although there is no telling how much else they have already accomplished. Between the headway they have made in turning Ben into their own Winter Soldier and the seemingly endless resources they have to dedicate to creating new villains, Beyond might be past the point of stopping when it comes to producing new threats. Assuming Ben and his allies can defeat the Goblin Queen and bring an end to the work Beyond has in progress, they could still be left corralling a myriad of leftover villains. Even if the heroes manage to leave Beyond's facilities in the hands of the proper authorities, the ensuing legal and ethical concerns regarding how to handle a literal supervillain factory are endless.

On the other hand, Beyond Corporation knows full well that Ben is aware of their Staten Island facility, and they're already in the process of making their next play. It's hard to imagine that Beyond would move to bury their work after making so much terrifying progress. Especially now that Beyond has effectively legitimized itself, they could be moving towards trying to legitimize their crimes as well, at least in the public eye. Unless Ben's sponsors have been overplaying the true extent of their reach this entire time, putting a stop to Beyond's schemes will only be the beginning of a new era of terror for the Marvel Universe.
