Popular online talk show Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis is getting a film version produced by Netflix and directed by Scott Aukerman.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film has been secretly filming for some time and is expected to follow the same general format as the series, with actor Galifianakis conducting awkward, comically passive-aggressive interviews with guests, appropriately seated between two ferns.
Details on the film, including release date, are still being kept under wraps but actors Peter Dinklage, David Letterman, Keanu Reeves and Galifianakis' former Hangover co-stars Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms are expected to appear as themselves.
Originally appearing on the comedy website Funny or Die, the series began in 2008 and ran sporadically until 2014, with Galifianakis interviewing everyone from Brad Pitt to President Barack Obama. The series was revived in 2016 with Galifianakis interviewing then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, which was streamed more than 30 million times in the first 24 hours since its debut.
The series was also revived earlier this year, with Galifianakis surprising comedian Jerry Seinfeld in the closing moments of his guest appearance on Seinfeld's own Netflix talk show Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.
