Betty & Veronica: Vixens to End in September with Issue #10

Archie Comics looks to continue to shift its publishing lineup this fall, with the news that Betty & Veronica: Vixens will end in September with issue #10. CBR has the first details.

Betty & Veronica: Vixens #10 is slated for release on Sept. 26 from the creative team of Jamie Lee Rotante, Sanya Anwar, Elaina Unger and Rachel Deering. It'll wrap the series, which reimagines Betty and Veronica at the forefront of a badass biker gang -- dubbed the Vixens -- and launched this past November.

"As sad as I am to see this series off, I'm so incredibly honored I got the chance to tell this story," series writer Rotante said in a statement to CBR. "Betty and Veronica are two fierce, smart and sassy ladies and it was so much fun to give them the chance to live to their full potential. And as you'll see in this final issue, it's not just Betty and Veronica that can hold their own -- it's all the ladies of Riverdale, and beyond."

Betty & Veronica: Vixens represents another series in Archie Comics' continued experimentation with its core characters, as seen in current horror series such as Vampironica and Jughead: The Hunger. September, the same month Vixens wraps, will also see the flagship Archie series go on hiatus, and the five-issue Archie 1941, placing the Riverdale gang in the early days of the United States' involvement in World War II, take its spot in the interim.

For Rotante, Betty & Veronica: Vixens represented a chance to have fun with the decades-old characters in a fresh setting, along with touching on some real-life relevance. The series was notable for not only starring two female characters heading up an all-girl gang, but featuring nearly all women creators behind the scenes.

"I never imagined I'd get the chance to write for two of my favorite fictional characters -- especially not in such a fun setting (that even dealt with some real-world heaviness, too)," Rotante said. "I'm so grateful for the work I got to do alongside my amazing team of super-talented artists: Eva Cabrera, Jen Vaughn, Sanya Anwar, Elaina Unger, and Rachel Deering (plus a special shout-out to Matt Herms!) and all of the editorial and staff at Archie. I had a blast. I hope you all enjoyed the ride -- and keep your eyes peeled for more Betty and Veronica in the near future!"
