What We Do In The Shadows is a hit Hulu television show based on Taika Waititi's mockumentary of the same name. It quickly became a fan favorite and recently released its anticipated fourth season. Audiences cannot wait for Guillermo to become a vampire, for Nandor to realize his friendship with his familiar, and for Laszlo to raise Colin Robinson's newest iteration.

While the show's vampires may be goofy, awkward, and unstable, they still have awe-inspiring powers that any mortal would be thrilled to have. After all, there has to be a reason familiars dedicate their lives to becoming vampires. From being able to morph into a bat to successfully hypnotizing enemies, vampirism has its draws.

10 Turning Into A Bat Is A Useful Skill

The WWDITS' main characters don't rank among the strongest vampires in media, but they still have incredible powers. One of the most iconic vampiric features that Nadja, Laszlo, and Nandor enjoy is the ability to turn into bats.

Watching them transform into bats is a humorous moment in the show. Their bat forms are painfully realistic, making the power feel underwhelming. Still, the ability to transform into an animal and fly has its uses, even if it doesn't look as cool as other TV shows and films portray it.

9 Hypnosis Is Powerful Even If It's Not As Efficacious As Expected

The WWDITS vampires also have the classic vampiric hypnosis power. However, a few shortcomings have become apparent over the franchise's duration. Firstly, the film explained that the hypnosis suggestions have to be a believable concept (they can make spaghetti look like worms because noodles are already worm-shaped). Furthermore, the show explained the drawbacks of hypnotizing someone too much (their brains melt).

Still, being able to hypnotize people has a ton of benefits. It ensures vampires don't need money and can devour their victims without them escaping or fighting back. On top of that, they can mess with people, as Nadja proved when she made a man dunk his head in a toilet.

8 Modern Things Feel New And Exciting

WWDITS ranks among the best vampire movies of the 21st century because it juxtaposes ancient vampires and modern fun. It hilariously shows how centuries-old vampires interact with contemporary advancements (like virtual reality, casinos, and current-day grocery stores).

Many shows that feature immortal beings focus on the dreariness of living forever, but few depict the pure joy of learning about new technology and experiencing human innovation. WWDITS' vampires get to sightsee in London, play slot machines, and try on VR goggles while expressing their awe. Regularly feeling such wonder would make a long life worth it.

7 Vampires Can Live As Long As They Want (Provided Hunters Don't Find Them)

Most of the WWDITS vampires are centuries old. They don't get sick or age and are always in peak physical condition. Though this changes once vampires get to a certain age (as seen with the Baron), they enjoy a long existence relatively unaffected by time.

There are still ways for vampires to die, though. There are vampire hunters, and even the vampiric council has ordered vampires to death. As long as they can avoid attention from the hunters and stay on the council's good side, they can live as long as they want.

6 Vampires Are Aware Of Other Supernatural Communities

WWDITS reinvented the vampire genre, and in turn, it repositioned gothic horror entirety. Other supernatural beings, including werewolves, witches, ghosts, and the New Jersey Devil, received makeovers.

Movies and shows like Vampire Diaries, True Blood, Twilight, and Teen Wolf addressed the convergence of the supernatural communities, but WWDITS made it funny and light-hearted. Getting to interact with these other supernatural beings semi-regularly would be a huge draw for many classic horror fans. Plus, these communities can be helpful to one another.

5 Vampires Are Super Fast And Strong

Guillermo may not be the strongest vampire hunter on television, but he is mighty enough to protect Nadja, Laszlo, and Nandor. Although, these vampires wouldn't need protection if they were a little more competent.

WWDITS' vampires have all the powers and tools needed to hold their own against most foes. Their naivety gets them in trouble, but if they applied themselves, their strength, speed, and other abilities would see them through. Nandor has proven how strong vampires are in combat, and Nadja has displayed formidable agility. These specific vampires are too goofy to get it right without Guillermo's help, but others might do a better job.

4 There Are Famous Vampires To Meet

Donal Logue is on the Supreme Worldwide Vampiric Council in What We Do in the Shadows

There are many famous real-life stars in WWDITS, and the best cameos include Donal Logue and Wesley Snipes. As part of the vampire community, and even more so once they take over the vampiric council, Nadja, Laszlo, and Nandor rub shoulders with these famous folks.

Getting to mingle with such famous people could be a draw for many looking to be a vampire. It's like being in a VIP club with the elite. While the show's characters usually seem unaffected when meeting the stars-turned-vampires, it would be exciting for fans of those celebrities.

3 There Will Always Be Vampire-Wannabes To Serve Vampires

There are many great familiars in WWDITS, and vampires wouldn't get far without them. Nandor, Nadja, and Laszlo don't care about the ethics of constantly hypnotizing their familiars and ordering them around. Yet, Guillermo is impervious to hypnotism and chooses to serve Nandor in hopes of becoming a vampire.

Having someone like Guillermo would be helpful, especially since vampires need to eat humans to survive. Furthermore, having a familiar to introduce vampires to modern technology is also a benefit. Having someone to clean up all the blood and laundry is another big plus.

2 Vampires Are Above Mortals' Laws

Doug Jones as Baron Afanas in What We Do in the Shadows

Since vampires are immortal, have superpowers, and have seen civilizations rise and fall, they are above mortal laws. While the vampiric council has codified laws, many vampires refuse to adhere to them. Being more powerful than mortals gives vampires freedom, which is necessary because they must kill to survive.

Vampires don't have to worry about homeownership laws, mortgages, gym memberships, or getting arrested because of their hypnotism skills. Furthermore, Nandor, Nadja, and Laszlo got lucky enough to become the vampiric council, meaning they enforce vampire laws and can choose not to hold themselves to that standard.

1 Vampires Get To Watch History Unfold

Despite not being the coolest movie vampires, WWDITS' characters experience amazing things. They lived through monumental historical events and even influenced them. For example, if Laszlo and Nadja are believable, they invented the song "Kokomo," and Nadja inspired the Rat Pack's music.

While living through the most painful times in history (like the Black Death or the World Wars) must be taxing on an immortal being, they get to watch humanity grow and innovate. One can only imagine living from medieval times to the iPhone's invention as an interesting experience.
