With a show like Demon Slayer, there is no shortage of extravagant sequences. Yet when it comes to mind-blowing strength, the displays can come from anyone, anywhere. Whether it is in training or on the battlefield, Demon Slayer never holds any punches when it comes to overpowered moments.

10 Tanjiro Kamado Splits The Boulder

Tanjiro splits the boulder in Demon Slayer

As Tanjiro Kamado begins his quest to become a Demon Slayer, he is faced with many seemingly impossible challenges. Yet none seems so challenging as when Sakonji Urokodaki asks him to split a giant boulder using only his sword. Urokodaki says that if he can split the rock, he will be ready for Final Selection. Try as he might, Tanjiro cannot cut it. That is, until he receives a little help and encouragement from some past Demon Slayer hopefuls.

Armed with the wisdom of his predecessors, and after months of training, Tanjiro finally slices through the boulder. This moment is so overpowered because the boulder is larger than him many times over – making it impossible to be cut by a mere human with a single blade. Audiences were happy for Tanjiro's success.

9 Tanjiro Surprises Giyu Tomioka

Giyu Tomioka looks fierce in a snow-covered forest

Before Tanjiro had even heard of demons and slayers, he lived a humble and relatively normal life. Yet when he comes home one day to find his family murdered, and his sister Nezuko seemingly on the brink of death, Tanjiro instinctively does everything he can to protect the last remaining shred of the family he has left. This includes defending Nezuko from the Hashira, Giyu Tomioka after she transforms into a demon.

As a Demon Slayer, it is Tomioka’s job to kill any demon. Yet, as Tanjiro tries to prevent him from killing his sister, Tomioka takes him out. He never expected to be almost cut by a hatchet flying by his face. As it happens, Tanjiro deceived Tomioka when he charged him, throwing a hatchet into the air that would fly at Tomioka’s face, while still pretending to hold it. Not only is it a clever deception, but it is also astounding that a young boy from the mountains was nearly able to get the slip on a trained Hashira. This instance demonstrates the true prowess of Tanjiro’s inherent abilities.

8 Inosuke Hashibira Moves His Organs

Inosuke Hashibira from Demon Slayer.

During the Entertainment District Arc, the main heroes are faced with two of the most ruthless demons they have ever come across: Daki and Gyutaro. The two are the Upper Six of the twelve Kizuki, and their power and malice show it.

At one point, it seems like the two demons have the upper hand, with Inosuke Hashibira appearing to be dead – having been stabbed by Gyutaro’s poisonous blood blade. Yet, he eventually re-emerges to help Zenitsu fight Daki, citing that he survived the stab by moving his organs out of the way. This is an incredible feat for a relatively newer Demon Slayer, but also impossible for any normal person. Inosuke proves that he is one fierce and sturdy Demon Slayer.

7 Tanjiro Discovers Sun Breathing

Tanjiro Performs Sun Breathing in Demon Slayer

When the Demon Slayers face the spider demons, they are overwhelmed first. However, each of the core heroes manages to separate the demons, leaving them to face a few of them one on one. Tanjiro is paired with the leader, Rui.

Though Rui seems to best Tanjiro at every point, Tanjiro eventually catches him off guard by using Sun Breathing for the first time. Although Tanjiro does not decapitate Rui with this move, the fact that it was his first time using it, and it caused such a great effect, is enough to solidify this as one of the most mind-bending scenes.

6 Shinobu Kocho Created Her Own Poison

Shinobu Kochou glides into combat in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.

As a Hashira, Shinobu Kocho is one of the top Demon Slayers in the Demon Slayer Corps. Despite this, Shinobu has never been able to decapitate a demon – this doesn't stop her from killing them. Since she knew her physical limitations, Shinobu developed a poison that would work specifically on demons.

She uses this, along with her Insect Breathing to kill the demons. Audiences even see the poison’s effects when Shinobu faces one of the Spider demons. Shinobu’s creativity and lethal poison make her one of the most overpowered Hashira.

5 Kyojuro Rengoku Faces A Kizuki Alone

Kyojuro Rengoku from Demon Slayer

After fighting a demonic train and saving all the passengers, audiences thought the heroes were in the clear. Sadly, this is not the case for the Demon Slayer heroes in the Mugen Train Arc. Waiting for them at the end of the train’s journey is the Upper Three demon Akaza.

Since the boys are exhausted after their tussle with Enmu, Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku faces the demon alone. This is where he shines. Rengoku’s Fire Breathing power keeps up blow for blow with the high-ranking Kizuki. Though Rengoku eventually succumbs to the cheating demon, there is no doubt that any Demon Slayer who can match a Kizuki by themselves is overpowered.

4 Zenitsu Agatsuma Shows Off His Skills

Zenitsu ready for battle

Zenitsu Agatsuma is a reluctant Demon Slayer. He is often afraid and would much rather chase girls all day. However, when push comes to shove, Zenitsu is there to evoke his powerful Thunder Breathing.

When Zenitsu and a young boy are cornered by a demon in a run-down mansion, Zenitsu passes out from fear – which ironically activates his fighting spirit. As the demon lashes out its gruesome tongue, Zenitsu’s hand twitches, severing the tongue. When he stands up, Zenitsu evokes Thunder Breathing and decapitates the demon in one blow. There is no denying Zenitsu’s overwhelming power, as he defeated a demon while asleep.

3 Gyutaro Sends Out His Blood Blades

Gyutaro from Demon Slayer

As one-half of the Upper Six Kizuki, Gyutaro is much stronger than his sister. Unlike his sister, Gyutaro can turn his blood into blades that he uses to mercilessly slice his victims. The blades are also poisonous, ensuring a slow and painful death.

After Tanjiro and company cut off the heads of both Gyutaro and his sister, Daki, they think the battle is over. Unfortunately, Gyutaro uses his remaining strength to send out an enormous flurry of blood blades. The blades begin to decimate the entire district. Fortunately, Nezuko stops them with her fiery Blood Demon Art. This scene displays both Gyutaro and Nezuko’s sheer force of power.

2 Muzan Kibutsuji Gets Rid Of His Subordinates

Muzan Kibutsuji in female form reprimanding his underlings from Demon Slayer.

Muzan Kibutsuji is the leader and creator of all demons. His power is so immense that no one can stand up to him. Unfortunately, five of his Lower Kizuki discovered this the hard way. When the remaining Lower Kizuki are summoned to meet Kibitsuji, he has a talk with them about their efficacy.

In the end, Kibustuji mercilessly destroys every one of the Kizuki but Enmu, as he was the only one willing to let Kibistuji kill him – showing his utter devotion. Watching Kibutsuji instantly kill four of his top members shows just how overpowered he is.

1 Nezuko Discovers Her Blood Demon Art

Nezuko’s Blood Demon Art from Demon Slayer

Though she is a demon, Nezuko Kamado has never had a drop of human blood. Even so, she harbors an immense power that audiences finally got to see in the Entertainment District Arc. It manifests when she is compelled to protect Tanjiro from the Upper Six, Daki.

When she is released from her box and notices Tanjiro is in trouble, Nezuko grows bigger, and vines appear on her skin. She then sends out flames that burn Daki so severely, that she cannot regenerate right away. This is unusual, as Blood Demon Arts usually have no bearing on other demons. Nezuko’s show of force and never-before-seen ability make this one of the most overpowered scenes in the show.
