In the epic saga of One Piece, no one on the high seas understands the power of friendship better than the rubber pirate himself, Monkey D. Luffy. Unlike some pirates, he commands loyalty aboard his ship not with fear or tyranny, but with genuine trust, friendship, and respect among crewmates. Not just anyone can become a Straw Hat pirate.
If Luffy got separated from his crew on an island adventure, then he would recruit some new temporary allies to help him win the day, and perhaps his new friends might be invited to sail with him aboard the Thousand Sunny, too. If all the My Hero Academia characters were on that island, for example, these are the ones Luffy would pick as candidates for his crew.
10 Mirio Togata's Sheer Grit Would Impress Luffy
Luffy needs allies who are tenacious, skilled, and good-hearted heroes who complement his own fighting style. For example, while the hardworking Mirio Togata is also a melee fighter like Luffy, his Quirk, or Devil Fruit in Luffy's eyes, sets him apart.
Mirio can phase through solid matter to escape harm or to ambush his foes, and he has incredibly sharp intuition and skill in battle, too. He will also push himself to the absolute limit to save innocent lives, and Luffy would be hugely impressed by his new battle partner.
9 Eijiro Kirishima Has Unbreakable Defenses
Another melee powerhouse is the Red Riot hero Eijiro Kirishima, who has gone from zero to hero with sheer willpower and newfound faith in himself. He aspires to be like his role model, Crimson Riot, a manly hero with a heart of gold, and Luffy can respect that.
Eijiro can't stretch his body or use the Gum-Gum Pistol, but he does have tougher defenses than Luffy and manly grit to back it all up. In a fight, these two heroes would have each other's backs and fight as a seamless team.
8 Momo Yaoyorozu Can Do All The Thinking
Luffy understands that a well-balanced pirate crew needs people with unique talents, ranging from Franky's shipwright skills to Choper's medical expertise and Nami's navigation. If Luffy ends up alone on a strange island with enemies everywhere, he'll need a strategist to guide him.
Momo is a brilliant student and sharp tactical planner, and an impressed Luffy would eagerly ask her to help him figure out a plan to defeat the villains on this island and save the day. Momo would gladly help, and she could also create any items that Luffy may need, too.
7 Nejire Hado's Spiral Powers Are A Must
Nejire Hado is another "Big Three" U.A. student, just like Mirio, and Luffy would gladly fight by her side on a strange island where he needs allies ASAP. To begin with, Nejire's cheerful, enthusiastic attitude would match Luffy's exactly, and they would quickly become friends during this adventure.
As for her "Devil Fruit," Nejire can project her own life force in bright spiral shapes, usually to fly around and deliver devastating ranged attacks from her hands and feet. Luffy is strong, but he can't typically fly, so Nejire can carry him around and help out with that.
6 Present Mic Is Just Too Cool
If Luffy ever spotted the blond DJ hero Present Mic on a strange island, he'd be intrigued, to say the least. Luffy likes people who stand out and express themselves, and Present Mic fits the bill. He's cool, powerful, and friendly, just the type of ally Luffy needs right now.
The two of them would be instant friends on this daring adventure, and in combat, Present Mic sure can deliver. His supersonic voice attacks can overwhelm or blow away any enemy, and Luffy would watch in awe as Present Mic unleashes his voice's true power. He'd better cover his ears first, though.
5 Ms. Joke Is Friendly & Fun
Often, when Luffy seeks out a new ally or crewmate, he'll look for someone whom he can be friends with. Unlike some other pirates, he's not the type to have skilled but mean minions. Luffy's team is all about friendship, and that means he'll be drawn to the friendliest, most wholesome MHA characters of all.
That trend continues with the green-haired Ms. Joke, who has an outstanding personality that Luffy would definitely like. She can also incapacitate her foes with her Quirk, forcing them to laugh hysterically and thus lose focus on the battle at hand. Luffy sure can make use of that.
4 Camie Utsushimi Is Funny & Talented
Camie Utsushimi is almost like a genki girl, a lively and goofy student hero who can make friends with just about anyone. She comes off rather strongly, but the extroverted, energetic Luffy would see her as a kindred spirit and gladly team up with her against all nearby villains.
Camie's Quirk can do things no one on Luffy's crew can. With her exhalations, Camie can conjure realistic illusions of just about anything, which should distract and confuse Luffy's foes long enough for Luffy to finish them with ease.
3 Hawks Is Luffy's Kind Of Guy
Hawks is a winged pro hero who would make Luffy think of Zoan-Type Devil Fruits, and for good reason. Hawks' red bird wings allow him to soar at incredible speeds in the air, and he can remotely control his feathers to move objects or people. He can even use sharp feather-swords in battle.
All that is hugely impressive in Luffy's eyes, and it sure would help to have an ally who can carry him through the sky. On a personal level, Hawks' brave, friendly, and easygoing personality would appeal strongly to Luffy, who'd see him as a brother.
2 Ingenium Has Devilish Speed In Battle
Tenya Iida's big brother, Tensei, inspired him in many ways, including his hero name and the design of his armor-like costume, too. While Tenya is a bit too stern and stubborn for Luffy's tastes, the pirate captain wouldn't mind fighting alongside Tensei, who also goes by Ingenium.
Ingenium is cheerful, friendly, brave, and confident, all traits Luffy looks for in a battle partner or potential crewmate. Luffy would find himself blown away upon witnessing Ingenium's incredible running speed and kick-based attacks in battle.
1 Itsuka Kendo Is A Reliable Ally
Itsuka Kendo is like a combination of Momo and Eijiro, having Eijiro's stubborn toughness and emphasis on martial arts while also having leadership skills nearly on par with Momo's, even if Itsuka's not a certified genius. She is the responsible big sister type, the kind of person who can help keep Luffy reined in.
On a strange island adventure, Luffy would gladly fight alongside Itsuka, whose giant hands might vaguely remind Luffy of his own fighting style. Itsuka is smart, practical, tough, and brave, and Luffy would follow her lead to find a way to escape this island with the rest of the Straw Hats.
